how plug and play is plug and play
Im looking at all sorts of fuel manigment solutions. even just a simple regulator to get me going. but i would like to know more about piggyback plug and play systems.
How easy are they to install. on motorcycles when you buy a piggyback ecu you just unplug the ecu plag this in its place then plug the ecu back in to the new piggyback. simples . but all the ones ive looked at ( Turbolink and greddy) all seem to just have wires comeing out of them. is there a indeth thread on here about piggybacks. cos i cant seem to find one cheers guys |

People seldom use piggybacks in the Miata world because you can't make appreciable turbo gains and still retain the ability to run the stock computer at idle. Our stock injectors have no headroom so manipulating their signal yields nothing of use. Standalones are relatively inexpensive and work well.
Nobody much uses them on this platform. Well, nobody who knows better. |
My Reverant MS3 Basic was almost completely plug-n-play. I needed to wire in the IAT sensor and wideband, then do ~10 minutes of tuning my idle VE table and ~20 minutes of autotuning the full VE table. It idled perfectly out of the box.
However I suspect I was rather lucky in that regard and you shouldn't expect it to be that easy. |
That sounds like my experience with the Brain built MS1.

The tune came pig rich, and the spark map is the most conservative I've ever been able to find, but that's exactly what I want in a PnP. I'd rather tune it to be less conservative than to get out and start knocking and have to dial it back. |
