I finally got pics.

Well now that I just got a camera, heres some pics of my miata. I dunno if this worked since its my first time putting pics up here.

johndoe 01-17-2009 10:15 AM

nope

Sam Amporful 01-17-2009 10:16 AM

ok it didnt work.......how do you put pictures up here. I cant just upload them from my camera like usual can I? It may be a stupid question but whatever

240_to_miata 01-17-2009 10:35 AM

since you are not a supporting member you cant just upload them onto the site. Upload them onto a file hosting site like photobucket , facebook, or w/e else and then link them using [.img] [./img] (without the periods)

18psi 01-17-2009 11:06 AM

Ding ding ding:)

what are you using for engine management?

Sam Amporful 01-17-2009 11:09 AM

EMB. works like a charm and gets the job done. runnin 305 inj, walbro 190, 12:1 AFPR and 93 octane. its tuned to run on that and tuned to run safely rich. reacts too well to boost lol

viperormiata 01-17-2009 12:34 PM

Car looks great man. Really super clean. I like how you did the hotside intercooler piping, really smart.

zoomin 01-17-2009 01:42 PM

Who made that radiator panel/cover/cowl/whatever you call it for you?

Joe Perez 01-17-2009 01:58 PM

Sam Amporful 01-17-2009 09:23 PM

Thanks man. I tried to do it in the best way to dissipate heat and also firmly mount the turbo without putting too much stress weight on the manifold. The cooling panel (cowl or whatever) is straight from Begi. It looks alot like the ARC though.

is that the manifold I think it is?

Sam Amporful 01-17-2009 10:00 PM

haha, what manifold do you think it it?

mazda/nissan 01-17-2009 10:34 PM

judging by your attempt at bracing it appears to be an OBX model

Sam Amporful 01-17-2009 10:47 PM

haha, bingo. its reinforced also. If you really judge the obx garrett gt25 manifolds, they do appear to be free flowing. They just use really thin metal to fabricate them, i dunno why. its actually a pretty nice piece.

kenzo42 01-18-2009 05:47 PM

Wow congrats on getting that finished so quickly. I remember when you were looking for a T25 still. How much time did you spend on this each day?

mazdadude 01-18-2009 05:51 PM

Nice car man! I usually don't like body kits, but this one flows pretty nicely!

Sam Amporful 01-18-2009 07:35 PM

I was working extremely slow for my usual self since i usually work abit faster, but it took me about 3 months. I am very pleased with it. Yeah I'll put up pics of the whole car tomorrow. it will make everyone think positive on this Garage Vary kit :)

mazda/nissan 01-18-2009 08:25 PM

the only problem I have with the OBX is the metal overlap where the center 2 runners meet the main loop. I also have one and the matching dp :)

Sam Amporful 01-18-2009 08:41 PM

yeah it was alittle off where it appeared they wanted it to meet up. it looks pretty when heated and cooled tho unlike dull looking cast iron. its lighter too but ofcourse not as durable. :) . I like this better tho

Just out of curiosity if you go to all the trouble of running a after market engine managment system why do you keep the stock AFM ?, also do you guys run surge tanks with your turbo set ups ??, And by the way Sam Amporful very nice ride nice color too

Dr.

Sam Amporful 01-19-2009 05:35 PM

well i just got this running like 2 1/2 weeks ago. and that was just to make sure that the turbo would run fine with the engine. I'll delete it later down the road. What some people dont realize is that you have to make sure its gonna run right before you move on to taking stuff out. Soon i will get a link and remove it. And its actually no "all the trouble" in running an aftermarket EMS. I wired mine in in about 2 hrs. with drink breaks, and tuning it only took 20min.

Thanks for the compliment. Hustler thinks it looks gay for some reason

UW Mitch 01-19-2009 06:00 PM

I think that's hustler's stock response to everything.

I think it looks f-ing awesome.

People who dont own a miata seem to like it even more. It somewhat gives them a different perspective on the car

I love the Vary kits. The pic of the front ^ is awesome!

Sam Amporful 01-20-2009 06:46 PM

Same here. They just flow so smoothly. That huge front duct in the bumper keeps my engine nice and cool too. it wont even fully warm up unless i stop alot. the Nopros look good too. You guys wouldnt even believe how cheap in price that paintjob was and how long its lasting.

Dellman 01-21-2009 08:07 PM

Looked up the word "poz".

poz
Poz is the greatest thing given to man kind by god via monkies. To get poz one must have the neg hole violated by a poz rod. The act of getting poz is called pozing it up. Neg guys meet up with poz guys to fornicate in a very nasty manner in order to spread the ultamite weightloss disease.

I was at the bar last night, looking for some neg guys to fill up with my poz load and I found three. We had an awsome orgy of Poz and Neg. It was epic.

Sam Amporful 01-21-2009 10:42 PM

wow, thats just nasty haha. wierd shit

Hate the front bumper.

Hate the rear bumper.

Hate the Tail lights.

Don't like your EMS.

Other than that, nice car! Nice and shiny! ;)

Some like it and i guess some dont. personally i think you dont have taste if you hate it. And greddy products such as the emanage is commonplace in the tuning world. its not crappy and is nice and inexpensive to tune throughout the rpm range. adding fuel, retarding ignition and such. If you havent ran it for a while, dont even judge it. People tell you stuff about it, you havent used one

Personally I think my tastes are great, but thats my opinion and you're certainly entitled to your own.

I took a box of parts and BUILT My own ECU, which IIRC has more functionality than most if not all Greddy electronic products. Total investment is around $200.00 US. Not to stroke my own clover too much, I'm hardly the first person to accomplish this but I am pretty proud of my skill and dedication of completing this. No need for variable rate fuel pressure regulator, no need for any kind of air meter.

http://jugrnot.com/megasquirt/IMG_0116.jpg

Meet a random person in a parking lot and they're either highly impressed someone without an electrical engineering degree can accomplish something like this (have never heard of Megasquirt), or they're impressed you've been driving the car so long without any problems. Hell most the stupid little kiddies that inquire about aftermarket modifications don't have any idea what aftermarket EMS's are even about.

Not to bash on your car or your build at all, just stating I don't like the gaping hole in the rear bumper, and the long gaping hole in the front bumper.. Granted the front bumper might be a little more functional than an OEM bumper piece... I still don't like it. The tail lights I see on a daily basis on 100 million Pimped out South-of-the-border Honda civics and personally hate the simple existence of them.

Again, just my opinion.

Sam Amporful 01-22-2009 08:19 PM

yeah but there is a need for much bigger injectors. Its just as easy to put in as an AFPR and tune it out, just as you will with bigger injectors, hell I even have a 12:1 disc in there and tuned it out on 305s. I dont see why its seems to be problematic. I didnt want to build an engine management. thats why I ordered one. got it for $120 too. why would i possibly need all those extras just to tune my fuel so my car can idle and hit boost safely. I didnt ask about your stuff either. sure you can delete the afm and pick up like 10 horses but thats not that big of a deal, especially when you can turn up the boost or just get an rx7 one and pick up half of that. theres not much power needed to push a miata forward quickly. I just dont see the big deal. Im not chasing 500hp. Garage vary kits are meant to be functional. they sell diffusers to replace and bolt up where that piece is. that hole may not be functional but there is a reason to why its there, to upgrade in the future. I have no problem with that hole being that it looks better by eye than on pictures. Its actually a very nice bumper. The holes arent even that big. I think you forgot how small a miata is. The front piece is about 65% more functional than the OEM one. My car will not stay at operating temp. unless im stopped. Highway driving even cools the engine by half of normal temperatures. Everyone has their opinion, but i just disagree when someone says something just to be the 2 cent instigator. Im not a kiddie either

1slowna 01-23-2009 02:16 AM

car looks nice, the body kit is not my cup of tea but if you like it rock it.
the e-manage is not my favorite thing in the world either but if it makes the car run, run safe, and you meet your power goals then i dont c a need for change.
the only things i really dont like are the tail lights and the small intercooler, i only dislike the intercooler due to the way it looks in that bumper, it prolly cools fine and would look decent in a stock bumper but the gv bumper dwarfs the cooler a bit.
all that matters is that you like it, if you are happy with it and have met your goals and you like the way it looks then congratz.

well said. you didnt look like as much of an ass as the other guy. I understand your feelings about the I/C but its not that bad. i could paint it black but people seem to like it as is. I dont understand why people hate the taillights too. it fits nicely with the look and wasnt cheap. looks 80% better than the oems. for power, all i need is the option to retard my ignition and tune fuel injected. its good for most power goals if you know what you're doing. Im happy you know that.

Project84 02-17-2009 01:42 PM

Bringing it back from the dead to ask you for detailed pics of the OBX manifold supports. I'm using an OBX myself, and just got the car idling, so I hope to be on the streets within a few weeks after I get my GiffTech tuning software and order a RRFPR

m2cupcar 02-17-2009 02:12 PM

Nice build. I wouldn't let those manifold supports give me a false sensation of "fixed" though. You need run a support from the block/mmount up to the bottom side of the turbo/flange area if you expect it to provide sufficient support.

Chris Swearingen 02-17-2009 02:39 PM

I think i have the same rear bumper waiting to be installed on my car. Do you have any close up shots of it? Do you remember if you had to remove the rear bumper support to get it to fit up? If not, what kind of bumper is it. I like the look but mine doesn't look like it will fit well.

Oh and other than not being white, the car looks great.:)

I like the kit and the front turn signals. I don't like the altezzas but I don't think I've ever liked them on anything but an Altezza.

If you got the EMB for less than an MS and it does what you need then rock it.

You're right. The flange needs to actually rest on something from downlow to all around support the weight. I have a year warranty on the piece so i'll just make one if and after this one cracks. It should last alittle longer though I hope. You know more on the subject than I do probably.

I have no bumper support beams, but the car is for track use and not a daily. It most likely will not fit without removing them, unless you do some fab. work or do something to get around it. Its the garage vary kit. Same as Wizdom and other names and knockoffs
