If you're gonna go FMIC, might as well do it right the first time. Then you won't need to upgrade the IC again when you put in a bigger turbo (which you will). :)

Looks good. Its gonna be tough to get that piping over the rad.

Also the piping diameter and ample intercooler size will be just fine. Lag will not be an issue.

Good to hear thanks bro! I Gotta let you know about the WI kit soon.

I just went with this intercooler on my car too. I got it from cxracing via "make an offer" on ebay. Something around $190 shipped. Mines 2.5" in and out. It is BIG. woah.

I'm thinking I could just move the radiator back the 3" I need and slip the intercooler between the rad. support and the radiator. It'd be real close to the sway bar. Then use some slim lowprofile aftermarket fans. That way I get to keep my A/C and not have to worry as much about clearing the hood, or do i have to take off my bumper, or worry about rigging a hood latch.

you're gonna want to consider a bigger front mount.

(if you intend to live in it)

Here is where I'm going to run the FMIC pipes through my Radiator support
https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1323800873

Here is the goal... I'm going to run a over the top mount FMIC.
https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1323800873

What makes this fmic difficult to install besides the fact that it's huge.. is that there are no kits like this for the miata. So I'm making it from scratch... I'm currently taking a few welding classes and I'm going to be attending a Tig welding class next sem so this shouldn't be too difficult to make.

Here's what my car looked like when I picked her up (1994 Miata 1.8L) $1500

JDMPalace 12-13-2011 08:06 PM

Will 2.5" pipes clear the hood ??

Golferluke 12-13-2011 09:00 PM

Holy blast from the past. You brought back a thread almost 5 years old in the DIY turbo section to ask about clearance and body work?!?

jhink92 12-14-2011 10:02 AM

Ha its a lose lose, either it was pull up a holy fu**ing old post or starting a new one in which case I catch crap lol anyways its the only thing I found about someone having replaced a quarter panel. I found one article on google after posting this but you know how it is.

Golferluke 12-14-2011 01:43 PM

ha ya, its lose lose if you can't find the answer your looking for by searching, but better to be searching and bringing up old stuff than just posting random new threads i suppose. Hopefully somebody will be able to help you out.

jhink92 12-14-2011 02:20 PM

Yea that's what I was thinking...I mean I'm replacing it in our shop at school and our instructor has on the verge of 40yrs experiance but its still good to know when your playing with your DD and how long you can't drive for because its ripped apart

triple88a 12-16-2011 03:26 AM

Good luck but that ic is going to go from headlight to headlight.

jhink92 12-17-2011 11:31 AM

Did you mean headlight to tail light? I'm pretty good at pulling dents so the front fender may be salvageable but the door is practically untouched minus one little dinge on the very edge that can be fixed with a pair of plyers :) its the quarter that's gonna give me hell. Thanks for the support btw.
