Great photos - looks like you are on your way to gettin' er done!

Savington 04-10-2008 07:27 PM

I would have done a few things differently, but overall a nice setup. Witty bitty turbo :D

chriscar 04-10-2008 07:42 PM

So how's the clutch feel? I had their red PP on my Nissan and loved it, but Igor @ Clutchnet steers people away from it saying it's too stiff for daily use.

johndoe 04-10-2008 08:16 PM

I don't know if that was a freudian slip, but either way that disc looks sprung, not solid. And chris, I can't speak for the 3xpp but the 2x feels only slightly stiffer than stock, not a workout at all.

coastertrav 04-10-2008 08:18 PM

sprung hub, solid disk...

3XX isn't bad at all. The turbo was free, so...

Bryce 04-10-2008 08:21 PM

I was expecting nude pics. You let me down. :(

Nice pictures. :P

johndoe 04-10-2008 08:45 PM

explain to me what a solid disc is?

cjernigan 04-10-2008 08:51 PM

That was the idea.

cjernigan, thanks.

cardriverx 04-10-2008 08:53 PM

A solid disc has no marcell (spelling?) spring.

What all would you have done differently? Just wondering...

Probably MS instead of the EMU, BEGi manifold/DP, and a bigger turbo? The only reason I went with what I did was because of some damn good deals I came across.

zarish 04-10-2008 09:55 PM

The red 3xx is not bad at all. Not sure why Igor thinks its stiff. It feels nicer than my stock clutch. I am running the 3x and 6 puck sprung hub without issues. Just not used to getting out of first gear with it. It engages rightaway.

That's what I want to hear. I really liked the Clutchnet setup on my Nissan, and will probably get one for the Miata.

Thanks,
Chris

jtpaintballwdp 04-10-2008 11:27 PM

Also using the 3x pp, it's not to stiff at all, it's stiff, but in a good way =P

Fair enough. All quality bits, you can hit 180-200whp with that stuff depending on your gas and your tune, but I do think you'll be considering an MS in a few months.

Yeah, well 200 is my goal, but I think 250 at the wheels is achievable with a bigger turbo later on. I could do MS eventually, believe me, I'm not puting it out of the question, but for right now I just wanted a simple setup to get me going.

I also just ordered an intercooler from cxracing, for an over the radiator setup, as well as an AEM UEGO.

Fireindc 04-11-2008 01:13 AM

Nice setup man, very clean. Yea 250+whp should be easy with a bigger turbo+ms..

Fyi sav was talking about your wheels and possibly the tiny turbo.

You pull off those wheels better than most ;)

elesjuan 04-11-2008 01:18 AM

Car looks REALLY good man! Nice build!

Thanks man!

I like the wheels, and anyone who doesn't like them can go fuck themselves...:jerkit:

Arkmage 04-12-2008 12:30 PM

I like the look of the wheels myself, the price is right on them, my only issue is that I've seen about 14 different weights listed for them and all but one seemed too heavy for my liking.

MX5-4me 04-12-2008 01:29 PM

good luck gettign that EMU to work.. I'm having shit tons of issues but i'm also using larger injectors..

coastertrav 04-12-2008 07:40 PM

Yeah, it is already on the car and running great.

From what I hear it doesn't like to idle the RX7 injectors, so I will be going with something else, what, I don't know yet.

I also ordered this intercooler: http://www.cxracing.com/mm5/merchant...gory_Code=INCO

http://www.cxracing.com/product_deta...t_images/1.jpg
Front Mount or V-Mount Turbo Intercooler, Core Size 18"x11"x3", Overall Size 24"x11"x3", 2.5" Inlet & Outlet One Side, 3" Thickness Core

Going to try an over the radiator setup. I am going to relocate the A/C drier into the engine bay to make some more room up front. I will post pictures if/when finished.

nice travis, thanks for helping me get my EMU setup but i changed my mind and ordered a MS and is should be here today =], ill let you know how it goes

Joey

Redrocket27 04-17-2008 01:30 PM

That's the same intercooler I've got my eye on, along with the over-the-rad setup. Let me know how that goes! Great car!

coastertrav 04-17-2008 01:38 PM

Yeah, I am interested in seeing how it goes myself. I took the bumper/support off yesterday to check things out, and it looks like I am not going to get enough room by just bending the A/C drier out of the way, so I am going to take it to an A/C specialties shop and have them relocate it somewhere else.

mx03tb 04-21-2008 12:04 AM

car looks good, love the wheels i only have two though hehe, bigger turbo would finish it off

Vashthestampede 04-21-2008 12:25 AM

Did you buy the IC off CXracings website, or snag it off ebay? That's the same one I was going to get, but compared to their $50-$75 ICs, that one was like $150. What did you pay for it?

Ditto on the sportmaxes, got a set myself! :)

Vash-

coastertrav 04-21-2008 09:17 AM

Yeah, it came from CXRacing. I ended up paying $200 for it, but I really wanted an over the radiator setup, so I can kinda justify the extra cost. Just look at how much a TDR setup costs.

The turbo would have been bigger if I would have bought it, but since it was free...meh.
