IAC bung

this is a question relating the IAC valve.
I referenced this thread: https://www.miataturbo.net/forum/t27901/

From what i have gathered i need to route the IAC into the charge pipe.

My setup will be:
1.8 L
CX racing intercooler and 2.5" alum. pipe kit
megasquirt in parallel (stock ecu controls idle)

My question is:
where do you get the bung to weld onto the intercooler pipe? what size is it?

Thanks!

I went to my hardware store and bought a 3/8NPT to 5/8 barb fitting (AKA Oil Drain fitting) Used the same drill and tap to make another fitting on my charge pipe. Used a 5/8 heaterhose to connect to it.

awesome. It didnt leak without using a weld in bung for that 3/8 npt?

I turned a piece of aluminum stock on my lathe so it would have a barb on it (which might not be completely necessary), then used a bench grinder to grind it to the shape of the charge pipe, then MIG welded it onto my charge pipe. Not the simplest or easiest to come by way of going about it, but it is nearly ideal.

I'd think jobambo's method would be quite sufficient as well, along with coating the threads in JB Weld to seal it (that's exactly what I did with my oil drain bung) and I'd bet it would hold up for years and years. If I didn't have a lathe and MIG, that's what I would do without question.

JB welded it just like my oil drain. Just remember to tap it a little further than normal because of the shape pipe.

I just used a piece of pipe and reused the IAC hose.
