looks nice. any more pics of it?

zoomin 07-06-2009 01:35 AM

Which IM is that? And is that a chinacharger t28?

kotomile 07-06-2009 01:42 AM

Looks good, did you make it?

You'll want to protect the surrounding hoses and whatnot from your stainless feed line.

samnavy 07-06-2009 02:23 AM

Come on man, more info.
Is that the new BEGi piece?
Where did you get it, how much, driving impressions, ease of install... tell us something!

I thought intake manifolds are only useful in the 275+ hp range.

Judging by the welds and pieces, its the BEGI one. Did they fix the fuel rail issue on yours? Are your injectors sealing okay?

Can you take a closer shot of your fuel rail mounts on the IM?

HKSturboMiata 07-06-2009 10:03 AM

HAHAH, ok. It is the BEGI one but we had to get alot of work done to it before we could install it, as it was a test manifold from BEGI and needed additional finishing work. We also installed Pistons, and Rods and were just shy of 300hp to the wheels at 21psi. From the previous dyno sheet I posted, we only changed manifold, pistons and rods. HA only...

Braineack 07-06-2009 10:13 AM

he posts plots or it didn't happen.

Could you possibly elaborate on the work done to it before installing it? Are you experiencing vacuum leaks in the fuel bungs? were the fuel rail mounting points spaced improperly?

1. Both the throttle body and the intake manifold runner plate had to be milled flat, eighth of an inch.

2. Epoxy filler had to be used in order to raise the runners to match the head ports.

3. Throttle body and Intake runners needed to be ported and matched.

At a cost of $260
But you have to understand this product was shipped to me as a prototype and I believe BEGi intend to make their finished product of much higher quality. So far the car is running strong.

Yes, I'm aware its a prototype, as I have the same one installed on my car. I am just curious if you are running into the same issues I did, and if they actually corrected them.

I had fitment issues with the fuel rail, as well as the injector bungs. What was your reasoning for retaining the 55mm TB?

HKSturboMiata 07-06-2009 01:09 PM

No fuel rail or injector bung problems so far. I have the TT fuel rail and had problems with this rail before I installed the manifold but none since installing new manifold. As far as the throttle body goes I did not want to spend any additional money on it right now. I am ordering larger Injectors so I will prob swap it out then.

Whoa brother you're near St Charles?! We deff should go for a cruse, two 300+ whp (well your close enough) Miata's can cause some trouble...

Did you have to re-tune much for the intake manifold swap?
