Intercoolers Where to Buy

Guys all my bookmarks are gone and I had a bunch of sites that had intercoolers (by size and config) any links? THanks

18 x 6 x 3 seems to be the most favorable one. ( i have one too) According to braineak it seems good for up to 366hp

is what I think he meant

Braineack 08-01-2007 09:31 AM

when they sell on ebay, it sometimes comes out $10-20 cheaper.

:werd:
on eBay: cxmotorsports, cxracing, just-intercoolers

Loki047 08-01-2007 07:49 PM

krayzrac3r 08-01-2007 07:57 PM

I need that one but not as long. ie <24inches

m2cupcar 08-01-2007 08:32 PM

here's the big one that fits with the a/c drier

the smaller one that centers up in the mouth

Ben 08-01-2007 08:34 PM

I can gaurantee a 24" ic will fit in front of the radiator, with a/c. Mine is 17" core but 24" WOA, with pipes around the radiator like Stripes and Braineack.
are you going under the radiator or over? or v mount?

Rob, does that big 25x12x3 ic fit between the stock hood latch and mouth funnel?

Loki047 08-01-2007 08:34 PM

duuuude you didnt even look.

Over I need the inlet/outlet on the same side.

Ben 08-01-2007 08:38 PM

duuuuude I did look, that's why I asked if you were going over, under, or v mount :gtfo:

Loki,

I think the one you want is the same as I bought from CXracing off ebay. They don't have every model on the website. Several times I've seen ones similar to the 12x18 but with one side inlet/ outlets. That's what I bought and will be running over the top of the rad. The one I got was one side, 2.5" inlet and outlet, 3" thick with a 10" x 11" core.

Email them what you want. They likely have more of them. It's an oddball so they don't advertise it often and charge a buttload for it.

cueball1 08-01-2007 09:10 PM

:ky: Shouldn't that be truenosluv?

ben - I don't know, I don't have a hood latch. But it's the same height as the narrow one so it should work.

Just intercoolers

Check my build thread and check out the EVO IC I stuffed in mine. It's 24x12x3.5 (3.5 thick I think)

Ben 08-02-2007 10:56 PM

I went out and measured. A 24x12 looks like it would fit under the hood latch if it is pushed back as close to the radiator as possible.

My ic is a couple inches forward of the radiator. Looks like I could get maybe a 4" taller core in there. One of BEGI's 18x9x3 cores would be perfect. But I think they get on the order of $700 for it.

Loki047 08-02-2007 11:07 PM

:( i need a littlee narrower than 24"

lazzer408 08-03-2007 04:52 AM

I relocated the ac tank (dryer/accumulator?) to where my charcoal canister was to make room for the 24" width of the EVO IC. That IC works f'in awesum.

Loki047 08-03-2007 09:18 AM

i need same side outlets :( doing an over the rad setup.

Im waiting for CRXracing to get back to me about the center to center distance of the outlets.

m2cupcar 08-03-2007 11:43 PM

lazzer- did you move by bending the tubing OR did you do so fab work to the lines?

Ben 08-04-2007 01:44 AM

you might need to get the ic core only and weld up your own end tanks. or get one of the cheapy china coolers and modify the end tanks and outlets to suit.

+1 on the drier tubing question. I thought the drier was supposed to have acess to airflow, though. Every drier I can recall seeing has been at the front of the car, exposed to air.

A local AC shop rerouted them for $100.

Well im having toroub getting dimensions center to center of the outlets, if anyone has that information i would be set.

m2cupcar 08-04-2007 10:46 AM

I've seen a/c fittings and tools for sale at a hotrod site (bookmarked somewhere). And considered it at the time- but bending and moving the stuff was quicker/easier and did what I needed. There are lots of OE applications with the dryer under the hood/in the engine bay. I think mazda stuck it in the mouth because it was available vertical space.
