JIC, AN, Begi oil feed question

3 Attachment(s)
So I'm putting my motor in before I turbo it and wanted to get the oil feed and return done while the motor (92) was out. Bought the 10x1.5 to -3an fitting from Begi, and a -3an cap from Jegs.

Fitting, -3an cap, and -4an cap.

But when I tried to put the -3an cap on the fitting it was too small. Now begi listed the part on my sheet as a JIC 3/8-24 fitting, which I've since determined to be -3an...I think. But my -3an cap from Jegs doesn't fit:

and the -4an cap does:

Stumped.

Oil feed fitting looks like a -4 AN. Bigger than any AN line I've used for a turbo feed.

I ordered a -3 I'll call them tomorrow.

I have always used a -4an oil feed line, just had to put in a restrictor depending on what turbo.

+1 for "I've always used -4AN."

However, if you ordered -3AN, that's certainly not what you got.

WHAT?!

Are you guys suggesting that Begi sent someone the wrong part?

Surely, you jest

aidandj 11-11-2014 10:48 AM

More googling has revealed that an/jic -3 should have a 3/8 outer thread diameter. Mine is more like .43. Called BEGI but shipping wasn't in yet.

concealer404 11-11-2014 10:49 AM

What does shipping have to do with it?

aidandj 11-11-2014 10:51 AM

I'm assuming its because they shipped the wrong part? Just what I was told on the phone.

So they can't help you at all until their "shipping department" decides to roll into the shop?

That sounds... silly.

My guess is the bin for the -4 is right next to the -3, and some have fallen in over the years. Happened to me when I got my turbo adapter from Abe.

Whoever picked up the phone the first time was the only person there. Not sure who it was but when I called back just now the lady was very helpful.

They made it sound like the -3 part isn't ordered very often. And they only had one -3 fitting left. Oh well, they are sending the new part out today.

for future reference, find a local hydraulics supply shop (such as Easton) ... they typically have what you need in stock, even metric adapters.
