Back when I was growing up there was no ebay.

Perfect setup for your power goal, I think.

great job! i had plenty of people that thought my i.c. setup wasnt going to work that well and it turned out working perfectly. glad you went through with it

Turbo_4 04-03-2010 04:56 PM

Good job, looks like you have the same "jdm" one that I have lol.

What do you guys think about this set up. I am only hoping to make around 210 with a T28. 27" Turbo Intercooler+2.5" Piping Kit B/R MIATA PROTEGE : eBay Motors (item 280474281407 end time Apr-04-10 20:28:12 PDT)

WonTon 04-04-2010 01:49 PM

27" may be a lil to big! hell the big intercooler that FM sells is a 19" and requires modification to the AC lines to fit it in a NA!

BoostedR 04-04-2010 02:25 PM

Thank for the help WonTon any recommendations?

Looks good to me! I like the hanger bracket approach for the upper mounts. Nice work man.

You have/will have a brace that holds the bottom of the IC right? Not so much to support its weight, but just to stabilize it.

Staffah 04-19-2010 10:32 PM

Budget racer, I'm looking for an update and your observations. How are you liking the performance of the JDM cooler? What kind of pressure drop and other observations (IAT's) can you share? I am in the market and its down to this intercooler and the identical cxracing one.

Cheers

i made huge progress this past weekend. i hope to have it back on the road as early as this saturday. just need to:
- bleed & adjust brakes
- reinstall my free replacement LC-1
- install my 3" turbo back exhaust
- reintall front bumper

once all of the kinks are worked out.....install my strut tower bar, add some ducting, and toss in my cleaned RX8 injectors. then the boost gets turned up. hoping for an easy 200whp with full boost coming on super early. fingers crossed!

Nice job. But I'm not fully convinced that OTR is any easier than the typical ATR.

Splitime 05-10-2010 11:34 AM

One suggestion, create a blockoff plate to keep all the air going through the radiator. as it is now, easiest route for air is over and around the radiator vs. through.

you mean "OVER the radiator"?

Um no... what about my original post didn't make sense? As it sits now... the radiator will get very poor through flow due to the lack of blockoff/ducting at the top and sides of it.

I like what you did here... Nice install.
