Default mazdaspeed turbo

i'm using a mazdaspeed protege turbo on my BEGI manifold. it's a gt2554r with an a/r of .80 on the compressor. i had to clock the compressor about 180* from it's stock position. i used an ATP billet actuator mount to reposition the can and i cut off about an inch off the actuator rod, i could have cut off more. the turbo i bought was used and it checked out alright. the actuator was shot, but the seller gave me the new one from mazdaspeed, so i modified as i mentioned. i also cut about an inch and a half of threads (it's m7 x 1.00). the oil drain flange is from ATP, as is the gasket behind it. it will be connected to my pan with a 10 AN braided stainless hose. the water lines aren't finished yet. i am using an earl's m14x1.xx adapter to -6AN elbow to a custom-bent 3/8" aluminum tubing to keep the rubber coolant lines away from the turbo. the water inlet will use an m14 banjo because of clearance issues between the cartridge and the manifold (not enough room for an elbow or a bent line), then to an earl's 1/4"npt to 6AN adapter and to 3/8" bent tubing. i have it mostly dressed and ready to go. the last of the hardware should be here next week, so i can finish the water lines and mount this hog. some pics:

top-ish shot showing the billet actuator mount and actuator.

obligatory front shot.

i cut off this much on the stock mazdaspeed actuator rod. i probably could have cut off about double the amount and been ok.

Get that sucker mounted I didn't know mazdaspeed used the gt25r. It's nice your compressor housing already has an outlet flange. I had to buy a 40 dollar connector to attach my intercooler piping. Also, you may want to rotate your center cartridge so the oil drain is pointed downward in relation to how the turbo is mounted to the manifold. If it already is, never mind.

thanks. i clocked the compressor, the cartridge only needed a few degrees of rotation to get the oil drain located correctly. i was having a helluva time finding a gt25r. i did a little more research and the MS protege popped up. for some reason, quite a few of those owners ditch that turbo for something bigger. after that, it was easier to find them. i got mine for $350 and the seller told me there less than 20k on it. after taking it apart and checking stuff out, i belive him. it's really in excellent condition.

i'm waiting to get my link back and plan to install that first. it will be the second time i've istalled one in this car.
