Miata noob....would this work (MAF related)?
Us Nissan guys commonly use a little trick; use the guts of a stock MAF and stick them into a larger OD pipe, sized with some simple geometry.
WARNING: Arbitrary numbers below: Say where the unmolested MAF would read 2v at 100CFM the hacked MAF is now reading 1.5v @ 100CFM, which of course would lower the injector duty cycle. In other words, stick your MAF guts into a larger housing (similar to tightening an AFM), put in appropriately sized larger injectors and voila. You then have a better "stock starting point" so say before your emange limit to running injectors would be 350cc you can now run say 480cc and idle fine, etc. Of course a drawback would be affected ignition timing, but that could be worked out in the emanage, right? |
spend $400, solder a few wires, and remove it altogether. ;)

I think that that would be a bit more complex with a flap style AFM compared to the SR hotwire setup. I wouldn't even know where to start to figure out how the increased length and weight of a larger flapper would affect things.

I should have mentioned, mine is a MAF car. I'll put that in my sig for future reference.
