mtx-l wideband 02

i have a 1994 miata and going to buy a wideband 02 sensor but the wires are different from the 90-93 (more than just 1 wire) anyone thats done this know which wires go where?

ryansmoneypit 10-06-2015 09:37 AM

Stand alone computer or stock?
Either way, you should only need the O2 sensor signal wire. It's all in the directions for the rest.

18psi 10-06-2015 09:46 AM

yes, the wires go to the other wires.

you're welcome

ryansmoneypit 10-06-2015 09:48 AM

Thanks 18, I just spit my cereal all over my desk.

simms 10-06-2015 12:25 PM

stock ecu until i get megasquirt.

Lol. Your MTX-L should have come with a little booklet that tells you where to stick your wires. Since you're on the stock computer, you'll be using the "narrowband" output. There will be a couple of unused wires.

okay cool, i dont have the wideband and the car isnt in my possession yet just want to make sure i know whats going on.

Well it will come with directions. It comes down to you wire the power wire to a 12v wire, the ground to a ground wire in the car, then the signal wire to the ecu O2 wire.

i know 1.6's more than 1.8's and getting a 1.8 they have the smallest differences, good to know ill have a wires that go to nothing too.
also if anyone knows does the 94 1.8 have a high pressure oil feed from the side of the block like 1.6? or do i need to tap from oil pressure sensor

ryansmoneypit 10-06-2015 03:45 PM

It will have it. Probably.

I have an MTX-L for sale if you are interested

red = power
black = ground
White = whatever illumination source for dimmer

then either yellow or brown goes to your ecu depending if you want narrow or wideband output.

simms 10-06-2015 04:41 PM

price?
how long have you used it, if at all?

psyber_0ptix 10-06-2015 04:56 PM

Used it for a year and half. Replaced the sensor as suggested in manual. Price? I don't know, I forgot about it until this post. $80 shipped? You may need to replace the sensor for good measure. I'll even through in a couple feet of shielded wire you can use; just gotta tie it to a sensor ground/shield on your megasquirt whenever you get it to help reduce noise

concealer404 10-06-2015 09:50 PM

If homeboy doesn't buy that, PM me, i'll take it.

Just one question: Will it fit a 1988 MX6? ;) It only has one wire.

x_25 10-09-2015 01:43 PM

For those that have had them, how much does the guage dim? I can't stand bright lights at night and I am considering one.

I will get in line for that if it doesn't sell.

psyber_0ptix 10-09-2015 01:50 PM

It should fit whatever car. Just choose the appropriate wideband/narrowband wire to run to the ECU. It's in a box somewhere, someone paypal me and it's yours. The manual, however, just reference online. It should still have the software and data cables

I don't think it dims a lot, but I've never found it to be brighter or more distracting than any other gauge. Oddly, it's also quite legible with the sun on it. If you think it might be distracting, avoid a pillar mount.

Apologies for the sidetrack.
