Are my lines connected right? TURBO LEAK?? L@@K
ok so this is how my lines are currently set up.
I have a OEM mitsubishi 16g TD05 turbo. I decided to hook up the oil feed line directly to the block via the side oil port instead of tapping the oil pan. and the oil return line is goes to the big side port on the passenger side of the motor block. The water lines are connected just like how the picture in the DIY FAQ has pictured. what im a little confused about is if i have the oil lines connect correctly? here is a picture of EXACTLY how i have all the lines connect. im running AFPR boost guage and waiting on the wideband. timing advanced to 6*, 91octane.Flyin miata manual boost controller, DIY intercooler piping. I started it up today and about 30senconds into idle it starts pouring out white smoke, and thank god i forgot to tighten the bolts from the turbo to the downpipe i noticed oil mist leaking out the cracks! i turned the car off and removed the cold side of the turbo from the hot side and oil was everywhere inside! im scared i might have connected the lines wrong but im pretty sure i didnt, well heres the diagram. so i started everything today http://i42.tinypic.com/11ki3a1.jpg Image - TinyPic - Free Image Hosting, Photo Sharing & Video Hosting |
umm dude no those are both presurized feeds. :rofl: plz tap ur pan like i know u should have from the start or your turbo will be a smoke screen generator for ever. The oil pressure should come in on the top and drain at the bottom under gravity.

isnt that how the stock greddy kit is plumbed? if it works for them it should work for you.

o yeah i forgot about the stock greddy's band and solution. dude trust me do the shit right and get it done so u wont ever have to worry about it agian.

No, they aren't hooked up correctly. You need to spend some quality time with the FAQ section.

The feed needs to be at the top and return at the bottom, otherwise gravity doesn't lend a hand and your shit leaks.

looks like the CHRA isnt clocked correctly. As everyone else stated, feed from top, return from bottom.

The routing is correct, although I hate using the oil return port on the cold-side of the block.
Everyone is correct about the turbo needing to be rotated 90 degrees. Oil goes in the top, comes out the bottom. And fuck Whataburger. In-n-Out is where it's at. Number 2, animal, fries well, with a lemon-up. That is paradise. |
there is no way for my to turn the turbo.
its stuck in that position because of a groove slot. plus i had all my piping custom cut and welded to fit the current position of the turbo. the return port isnt exactly horizontal like the picture shows, it does point to the ground at like a 45* angle |

i did a write up awhile back on clocking the turbo man its not that fuckin hard.

the CHRA can move independently of the compressor and turbine...
