ps so i coulld run afm straight through good job man. now all you need is a mazda tatoo.

hey VRTSid, how is that flexible blue piping stuff holding up to boost? i have some of that on my current naturally aspirated system, connected thru the firewall for a cold air intake.

i was thinking of reusing it for my turbo setup but am a bit worried that it would collapse or expand from the force of the air sucking thru it.

well this blue crap is temporary. and its on the Vac side of the equation, so it doesnt see boost. its industrial "low" vac hose so it should be up to the task. I wouldnt trust it to hold ANY boost. but vacc? it should be fine.

The Down pipe does look like the megan one, but my manifold is equal length tubular.

semi update...
mounted my boost gauge
http://jazz.sdsc.edu/photo/pictures/...1219071848.jpg
and my awesome emb mounting
http://jazz.sdsc.edu/photo/pictures/...1219071847.jpg

I'll try to add a shot of my newly redone exhaust if Im feeling froggy.

also rehung my IC pipe higher and now it sets as high as the a arm/subframe so I think Im good till I redo everything :) and still have a massive exhaust leak under my turbo... so fucking irritated by that right now. I think Im going to take it to my mechanic and have him do it, he'll knock it out way faster than I can.

drftem 02-20-2007 09:03 PM

danm sid i thought we fixed that stupid exhaust leak. danm. wel at the verry least we need to carpool to that event.

VRTSid 02-21-2007 04:30 PM

yeah its really irritating me. I want to take it apart and fix it but I just dont want to. lol

I just fired it up, it was going ok but the idle was a little off like I have a vacc leak, but I think I can sort that out, I also dropped the rest of that ac shit under the dash, and I fixed my headlights, but I think I broke my hvac fan. and I still need to wire up the ac fan in the engine bay

drftem 02-22-2007 02:24 PM

hey do you need that manual boost controller i got????

drftem 02-22-2007 02:24 PM

if not im gunna up to 8psi for the event.

TwoScoopsofHooah 02-23-2007 06:06 AM

What is causing the exhaust leak is there something wrong with the megan/megan like down pipe?

drftem 02-23-2007 12:33 PM

the way it is it wont allow the bolt through the whole on the bottom of the mount that mounts to the turbo. i hope that makes since. so we tried running just a nut and bolt through it and well i guess its just not tight enough. i have one more guess/ idea that he already knows that should fix it. but thatll be some fucking work and trips to find the right stud.

VRTSid 02-23-2007 07:16 PM

well I might not have explained it properly, its an exhaust leak at the turbo manifold and turbo, not the down pipe, its just that I have to take off the downpipe to tighten the manifold bolts, which to be sure doesnt sound like an uphill event, but it is.

also the manifold isnt megan, but the downpipe is..

magnamx-5 02-23-2007 08:34 PM

nah man just pull the compressor/chra the DP can stay in place. I did it your way at first to but pulling the compress/chra is frigin easy just undo the clamp and move it aside. tons of room then 35

VRTSid 02-25-2007 12:46 AM

you mean the compressor of the turbo? like take the compressor off the turbo? and then tighten the manifold bolts?

I was able to get my arm in there and get a wrench on it... its tighter but for how long...

TwoScoopsofHooah 02-25-2007 06:24 AM

damn that sucks

VRTSid 03-02-2007 12:43 PM

found my camera charger, figured I would post some better pics and a few things I did last weekend

mazda/nissan 03-02-2007 04:54 PM

are those headbands around the brake fluid resivoir? And if they are is it to protect if from the heat?

mschlang 03-02-2007 05:19 PM

If that zip tie is on the WG tee because the hose won't stay on otherwise, you are asking for trouble. If that hose pops off, you'll have no pressure signal to the wastegate, and uncontrolled boost. Also, every BOV I've seen needs a vacuum source to operate. The signal line from the compressor housing is pressure only, no vacuum there.

VRTSid 03-02-2007 07:47 PM

mazda/nissan: its holding on my heatshield I made... I couldnt think of a better free way to attach it.

msclang: it was the wrong size hose for that T. it was to get to the idle stage. I actually havent made any boost yet... but thats another story.

the wg line is fine for the bov actuator from what Ive been told. I dont have a source on the manifold that isnt going to a sensor...
