New and no time lol

Hello everyone,
I've had the pleasure of owing my 01 since I was 16 in 02. After 12 long years i finally built a turbo setup using a td04l from an sti. I bought the $100 header and DIY intercooler off ebay and went at it. I work on a top fuel funny car so have some good knowledge and resources but this is just a step out of my league if you know what I'm saying. Running stock ecu and maf which is placed at the turbo intake. Really just want to know that what I have done is as right as can be. Wish I could afford hydra but just don't have enough yet. I understand that I'm sure all the info I'm looking for is on this site and I have been following this site for years but unfortunately I am running out of what little time I have and am really excited to start it but don't want to melt anything before my first autocross. Any pointers are greatly appreciated as I have tried to think of everything from hooking up the coolant lines and running a small oil cooler but just in case I missed anything I would ask the professionals.
Thank you for your time

is this a troll account or are you really this retarded?
I'm almost afraid to ask for pics.

Rion 04-06-2015 11:54 PM

No troll and i don't think I'm retarded. Want me to use big words like pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis. Tried to upload a photo but it wouldn't let me for some reason but that's what happens when your on the road 200 days of the year working on something that makes 10000 hp and goes 300 mph. Bit seriously what is wrong in my previous post

Everything. Literally. I'm not even joking.

Rion 04-07-2015 12:14 AM

So how should it be

18psi 04-07-2015 12:18 AM

Do you still get spoon fed daily?

Schuyler 04-07-2015 04:38 AM

Real talk, if you spent less than $1000 you cut some major corner.

sixshooter 04-07-2015 07:15 AM

In all of the reading you have done here you must not have read the stickies. Look for DIY FAQ thread.

You should not use the stock ECU and a turbo.

Hydra is not a good answer.

Check the vendor called MS Labs.

Put your location in your profile so it shows under your screen name. Someone here may be local and might be willing to help.

tehzack 04-07-2015 07:59 AM

The NHRA gives you cats 75 minutes between rounds to rebuild motors. It will take you less time to read this:

Here is some time.
http://www.andysowards.com/blog/asse...er.jpeg?b91b38

Rion 04-07-2015 11:18 AM

So basically I need the bipes acu and a wide and 02 sensor to run 6psi. Guess I just figured the stock ecu could handle changing the parameters to deal with what I had

Savington 04-07-2015 11:20 AM

MS3Basic + Injectors > Polio > Bipes

Rion 04-07-2015 11:35 AM

So basically I just need to get over it and get ms or hydra. And I'm in central ohio if anyone is around that area or know of anyone around that area.

Short of the few people who work at FM and post on here, you probably will not find many of us that would say get a Hydra. It is more or less MS3 of some variant or bust.

sixshooter 04-07-2015 12:00 PM

MS3 or MS2.

18psi 04-07-2015 12:41 PM

Now that engine management has been discussed, let's talk about your $100 ebay header and other fail aidz

Given your original post, I find it hard to comprehend that you actually work on anything....let alone a top fuel, multimillion dollar racecar.....

Just what is your job title? Rag grabber, oil dumper, windshield cleaner?

Also, further proof you aren't an idiot would be welcome...

Anyone can Google the longest word in English ,(pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis), which is a retarded way of saying lung cancer..

concealer404 04-07-2015 02:09 PM

If you don't have enough time to research and gain even a tiny bit of knowledge on the subject, then i don't have enough time to spoon feed you.

18psi 04-07-2015 02:40 PM

put a bipes and e-cool onto the funny car

run 4's

You already know it isn't.

TNTUBA 04-07-2015 06:14 PM

You laugh.....but a variation of the idea behind e-cool is employed on TopFuel engines. A significant percentage of the fuel injected into one of those motors is used for cooling.

concealer404 04-07-2015 06:15 PM

Don't tell Tom that. Please.

TNTUBA 04-07-2015 10:05 PM

My horse is amazing

Rion 04-08-2015 01:50 AM

For those of you that actually had something intelligent to say, thank you. The rest of you I'm sorry your high horse got horny but then again I'm sure you didn't care considering you finally had to buy a seat for your car since that 3" trailer ball you sit on has too much slop (at least the gerbil can breathe now) yes they do not make a $100 header with a td04l flange but when you can fabricate it is just a weld away, but you must spend too much time in your mom's basement getting butt hurt by your uncle chuck while playing who can suck the most dick. Surprised you actually got a picture of what i believe to be the right car but then again we are the only one running out of ohio. Like to see if anyone knows how many discs we run in our clutch (that's the easy one)or what arm ratio is our secondary levers or even how our fuel return system works. How about how many injectors there are per cylinder or how about how much our fuel pump flows (Google is slightly wrong on that by the way). You could say we use our fuel as a source of cooling but then again when you saturate a cylinder with more then it can actually hold it is no wonder our spark plugs are gapped where they are. But then again when you run 60 psi from a 1471 it takes a lot to jump the gap. How about what does the psi go to when you loose a hole or how many gs do you pull at the hit and then how about lockup (when is that by the way? just like to see if anyone knows). You know it's not that I'm out of my league; that was a poor choice of words, it's just I was looking for legitimate help with something I have never done before, but obviously there isn't too much on here just a select few who actually know; the rest, I hope whoever installed and tuned yours for you raped you on the bill (but I'm sure your mom didn't care she just patted you on the head while saying your special while subliminally hoping you would crash and die so she could be done with you)

turbofan 04-08-2015 01:58 AM

Paragraphs bro. Use paragraphs when you talk to me like that.

Rion 04-08-2015 02:04 AM

Ain't nobody got time for that

TNTUBA 04-08-2015 06:44 AM

I'm not going to quote your "wall of text" here. But if you were to start talking about your clutch setup on the internet for the world to see, assuming the team you work for isn't some "also ran." I'm SUUUUREEEE you would be fired on the spot. Don't be stupid. several of the things you posted are pieces of highly proprietary information and vary significantly from team to team.

sixshooter 04-08-2015 07:29 AM

My shoe is untied.

Leafy 04-08-2015 07:38 AM

Hi guys I'm op. I know how to fabricate but I bought a header that is an obvious piece of crap just to cut the flange off and weld on a new one and it only cost me $20 more than it would have cost to just weld up my own manifold from scratch that wont crack in 100 miles.

Monk 04-08-2015 09:02 AM

OP, It's cool that you know stuff that we don't, but we didn't ask for any of that information. You came here and "asked" us to waste our time spoon feeding you information so that you could save about 10 minutes of reading and looking at pictures.
People have worked very hard to lay out all of the answers to your questions in easy to read stickies. You could have easily read all of those plus a few build threads in the amount of time it took for the first eggplant to appear in this thread.

sixshooter 04-08-2015 09:08 AM

Rion has been directed to the DIY FAQ and that will tell him what he needs to know at this point. We've been as helpful as we could be until he has done some reading and has some background.

If you knew a damn thing about the car you supposedly work on, you'd know that the car pictured is based out of Iowa, not Ohio.

You sound suspiciously like a recent graduate of a wyotech-esque school.

You know the types, 9 months of class work, and all of a sudden, you're a goddamn expert.

Also, how pathetic are you being paid if your tax return is gonna be spent buying a megasquirt.... That's like $7-800.......... Many of the professional road techs I talk to wouldn't even mention the price point of many products...let alone ones that are priced for miata-folk...

Wait...you say you have experience tuning a blown mega v8, BUT ALL OF THE PRINCIPLES JUST MAGICALLY GOT FORGOTTEN WHEN DISCUSSING YOUR MIATA?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!!?

Fuck this idiot, I vote ban

Easy there. Calm down a bit.

Rion 04-09-2015 06:56 PM

I would not say recent. Been about 5 years ago and have no problem saying it cause I don't portray myself to be some fucking super tech. If I had a proper ecm I would have no real issue setting it up, I understand that, but letting the stock one do it for me for now was all I was trying to accomplish. And I would love to know where to find a ms for 7-800, everything I find is 1200.

Rion 04-09-2015 07:09 PM

And yes I do get paid like shit even though I've been doing it for 4 years. If it wasn't such a neat job and had such good benefits I would have quit a long time ago but how many people get to say they do what I do. I'd just be happy if I didn't have to drive the semi anymore and could focus solely on the clutch
