oil feed line leak
 
Hey guys I need some help. My feed line is leaking at the port on the block. It is a brand new earls fitting and I used high temp thread sealant on install. Its only leaking while the car is running but at idle there is still enough oil pressure to leak a good amount. I do not have a crush washer on the fitting right now, could that be it the cause of the leak? Im going to get a crush washer on it and see if that fixes it and if it doesn't I am considering throwing some rtv around the fitting. Any other ideas?

Yes, not having a crush washer is exactly why it's leaking. It's a straight cut thread, m10x1.5 or something like that, it has no hope of ever sealing without a crush washer.

When you say, at the port on the block, you mean on the driver side? Then as Deezums said, yes, requires crush washer.

If it's the port where the oil pressure gauge is, that's tapered thread and should only require thread sealer.

If it's a VVT block, and you're not using a VVT head, it's parallel thread and would require a washer.

If it's a VVT block, and you're using the hardline for VVT, then the gauge port is once again tapered, but you still need crush washers to the block for the parallel thread.

If it's not a VVT block, but you're using a VVT head, then you must run a 1/8" BSPP tap through the 1/8" BSPT to use the parallel thread banjo bolt for the VVT hardline, to which you'd use thread sealant for the oil pressure gauge since it's tapered.

I don't think this is true. In the VVT swap megathread, I posited that all the blocks were tapped BSPP, and all the VVT parts would bolt up to any shortblock. Bob Bundy confirmed that for me. At <100psi, you can thread a BSPT fitting into a BSPP hole and there will be no sealing issues.

BSPP = British Standard Pipe Parallel
BSPT = British Standard Pipe Tapered

Its the oil feed port on the driver side by the dip stick tube on the 94/95 blocks. I believe its just normal 10x1.5 threads

It is 10x1.5 and you need a crush washer.
