Oil feed line problem..

Took the plug out of the block for the oil feed line, to find that the threads arent 1/8BSPT pipe thread, they are very course.. Anyone ever run into this problem?

ApexOnYou 02-03-2007 01:08 PM

Err BSPP..

magnamx-5 02-03-2007 01:13 PM

yeah they are metric if you mean the ones on the exhaust side 10* 1.5 i believe.

ApexOnYou 02-03-2007 01:34 PM

Oh? I've only heard of them being BSPP.. Or this a 1.8L thing?

magnamx-5 02-03-2007 01:44 PM

the pipe thread hole is on the oil pressure sending unit bung on the intake sid eof the motor. If you have a crate motor or 1.8 you get your oil from there but the original 1.6 people, get a nice fitting on the hot side of the motor that takes a metric to AN fitting. i got some through summit for like 20 bucks apeice i believe but cant remember exacltly. Dont forget to get some to attach to the turbo as well the turbo might vary from engine in thread profile to but this is just good times.

WTF is the first thing? the hole is metric and your line will most likely be AN you need an adapter.

ApexOnYou 02-03-2007 02:07 PM

Arent you in Kentucky? Isnt that a bit far even for southern Illinois? I appreciate the thought though!

The first thing is the 1/8BSPP to *iforgetsize*AN fitting.

magnamx-5 02-03-2007 02:13 PM

yeah you need a fitting that is metric on one side and AN on the other.Yeah but Southern ILL would only be like an hour or 2 well worth it to help someone in my book. + im bored. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku
I dont remember the exact sizes but this is about what you will need. Off course you need to be sure of the block thread and your AN size first. i cant remember it off the top of my head.

Oh I see what you mean now. Thats pretty much exactly what I have right now.. Just I dont have the right size lol. I may see if I can get some parts from the hardwars store to make an adapter to use the adapter I currently have. I would rather have a brass fitting than the aluminum earls fitting too.. But who knows what i'll end up doing. Thanks for the info!

magnamx-5 02-03-2007 02:18 PM

BTW hardware store was of no help to me on this. So GL man. Metric stuff powns alot of these hardware stores and AN powns the rest.

This thread deals with it and hase some other links. I don't know which it turned out to be -3 AN or -4 AN

ApexOnYou 02-03-2007 02:34 PM

I was thinking trying to make something like this, dont pay attention to sizing im just throwing those out there..

[BLOCK][M10 X1.5 to 1/8BSP adapter peices][1/8BSPP to 6AN adapter in pics][for the win.]

1/8BSPP seems like something thats going to be hard to find...

Thanks for the link! Seems like it might just be M10x1.5..

TheBandit 02-03-2007 03:21 PM

Thats odd, I have always heard that the oil port on the block was 1/8 British Pipe Parallel, straight from Corky Bell.

magnamx-5 02-03-2007 03:43 PM

The oil port for the pressure sensor yess, corky is not wrong here just missunderstood

adbradley 02-03-2007 05:53 PM
