That is precisely it, really.

My main dilemma here is with making it shorter/simpler/cleaner, and having less lines running all over the place.

But no matter how much I think about this, read about this, and read all of your guys' really good opinions/inputs, I am still torn.

It doesn't help that on ebay the "short" line is actually more expensive than the "long line" either.

Do you agree that a head is not designed to work using any actual flow at all apart from that which leaks from the lifters and that which simply replenishes the oil which is wiped from the cam lobes and bearing faces?

Do you agree that the rod bearing surfaces are the highest stressed parts inside the entire engine?

Have you ever starved a BP, have you EVER heard of overheated oil or insufficient pressure damaging cam bearings or lifter/lobe surfaces?

Do the lifters tick FAR before anything like this happens? (and lifters never tick with this feed, ever.)

Again, just perspectives and questions, not a pissing match.

Wait do you really buy your AN lines on eBay? Why not find a local hydraulic shop and get them custom made to length.

Pretty sure that it has been determined that the restrictor is the same for solid and HAL heads (in one of the other threads). Sounds like the VVT port would be a good, safe compromise. Don't know how that would route the line, exactly. Any pics of that approach? Wouldn't work for me as '99.

Dan, I totally dig everything that you are saying. (Though, by the same token as you describe the head, the main and rod bearings are also designed to work without any actual flow apart from that which replenishes the oil which "leaks" from the bearing faces in order to maintain their surface film.)

And yet I still cannot agree that drawing oil out of the one spot on the engine which is most restricted and furthest away from the oil pump in order to feed a turbocharger is in any way more optimal or less risky than drawing the same quantity of oil out of one of the largest-bore drillings in the whole block, an area with more-than-adequate flow capacity.
