After seeing how cooked my rubber AN lines were after 5k miles, I'd really like to go PTFE this time around.

It seems the Earl's (and comparable) teflon line requires crimped connections meaning one has to invest some serious $$$$$ into equipment to produce their own custom assemblies ... something I'm not willing to do.

It's relatively easy to located custom length assembled PTFE brake line but this limits me to -3AN ... fine for an oil feed, but not so good for coolant/fuel lines.

Does anyone know of any vendors willing to build line assemblies to spec? I'd love me some stainless/nickel fittings with black braided PTFE line.

another place that does carry PTFE stuff is siliconeintakes.com, but you gotta make it yourself. If you have a dremel/rotary tool for cutting the line, it's actually quite easy to make your own. As long as you're not installing the brass crush piece in the fittings backwards, it should go on with ease

You don't need to invest $$$$ to assemble your own lines.

 

Hustler and I will highly recommend that you get your line parts from Bat Inc, or even have them assemble them. I think they charge $2.50-$5 to assemble each end. If you want to truly do it right you should also get them covered in fire sleeve.

 

Depends on the brand. Aeromotive and Earls use crimped end fittings and the crimpers aren't cheap.

I might give one of these 'off brands' a go. I just don't want on leaks because of ---- tolerancing - something I've never had an issue with when using Earl's.

Motec and Aeroquip fittings > all others.

I will no longer use any other brands after using those.

 

Which is the preferred sleeve - the fiberglass/silicone (red stuff) or the reflective sheathing? The latter seems like it would better suited at preventing heat build up while the fiberglass sleeve seems more like a fire suppressant.
