Hahah nice build!! Might want to get an alignment ASAP, the tires on those old wheels were worn pretty bad on the inside!

Gah, every build thread I read gets my soooo excited for mine!!!!

MGrissom 12-12-2009 12:42 PM

Ok, So i got a new car which made me stop working on the miata for a while.

1987 Chrysler Conquest
Got a 14b Turbo for it running 15# Boost..
We love these cars at my house.

But, back to the miata.
recently the front driver side Cross something broke witch caused the front end to hit the ground "ouch" So got new stuff and its back on the road.. Still don't have the clutch installed due to "Lazyness" / new car.

For sure cant get it dyno tuned without my 6-puck in.

But.. I plan to try to get my clutch installed and try to get a exhaust on in the next weekish.

been running straight Downpipe since the turbo was installed.. Gott love waking the neighborhood!

also, I dont understand some things about MSPNP.. Like how to set injector PW's So my car is like running hella rich...

I have since i have a few to many cars ATM.
Although not sure what i would want for it..

Mostly just a project car...

Aero91 12-16-2009 12:19 PM

i would have jumped into a build thread, if it wasnt 15 degrees outside right now...

this is a sweet project, i hope you make better videos when you get the clutch installed

whitemiata 12-17-2009 06:10 PM

would be alot nicer with 15 or 16's. the 17's look good on the newer gens

Yea, I'm about to buy some 15's :D

GregTSi 02-19-2010 11:48 PM

I got the clutch put in, in the process of getting a exhaust put on it. Just waiting until I sell my bike, then it's going to the dyno to get tuned.

Out ran a LS1 Camaro from 40-120 earlier, started blowing out the spark so I got off of it and was still nose to nose with him. Still needs a little bit of work, but all in all it drives great.

Planning on some 15'' CCW Classics w/ Tein Coilovers after I get it tuned. :giggle:

levnubhin 02-20-2010 12:49 AM

You out ran him and were nose to nose at the same time. Awesome.

yeah, kinda throttled it in the boost after that. I don't really remember gapping the sparkplugs when I put them in because of a hurry. :vash:

I have a set of 15" panasports if your interested, once I have 10 posts.. haha

Do you mind if I ask how your water problem came about? I'm glad you were able to fix it without an issue.

The lines were crossed, he just didn't check it good enough.

I've hated not to be able to close the hood all the way, so I finally pulled it into the garage and tore off the exhaust manifold/turbo to clock the Turbo.

AFTER (Not done yet).

I'll post up how it looks when I'm done.. can't wait until I get a welder so I can get that shit done right.

Should be getting it dyno tuned within the next few weeks after I get this problem, and a stud out of the fuel rail fixed. Then maybe some Coilovers, and a nice set of CCW Classics.

GregTSi 03-31-2010 06:03 PM

can I also get this thread moved to Build Threads section? Thanks

Dude, if you have an MSPNP, why in the hell is the damn flapper box still in there. Spend the $15 on a sensor and get rid of that restrictive shit.

Havn't really worried about it, it's on my to-do list before it gets tuned.

Cody Strife 04-01-2010 08:49 PM

No shit, that's the truth there...

Sparetire 04-01-2010 08:52 PM

In for dyno results.

Blaize 04-01-2010 09:43 PM

In fact giving it a bit more thought, you NEED to get a iat sensor. As things stand you are making fuel calculations based on the air temp before the turbo. Have faith they are very different at the throttle body. You will have to get that sorted before you march down to the dyno or they will laugh you out of the place.

Sparetire 04-01-2010 10:29 PM

They will take the money first though.

Brian said you guys were gonna start coming to chill on florence blvd with us.

Matt traded his bike for a 96 Cobra with a S-Trim that makes 460rwhp on 6 pounds.

GregTSi 04-07-2010 08:22 PM

Sold the Donk Status rims, bought some Raceland Coilovers. Buying all the front end ball joints tomorrow.

Going to drop it on the 17's it came with and just wait for a good deal on some XXR 502s +15 Offset.

Turbo_4 04-07-2010 08:31 PM

More pics!

GregTSi 04-07-2010 09:45 PM

Will get them posted as soon as I get them installed.

GregTSi 04-11-2010 02:00 AM

Ebay Manifold cracked tonight. Might go have the welds redone, they look like really weak welds.

Whats a good top mount manifold for a 1.6, TD05h.

railz 04-11-2010 02:26 AM

Was the turbo and manifold supported with bracing?

No sir, I was actually going to try to fab something up this weekend for it.

mazpr 04-11-2010 09:15 AM

I have seen the placing a steel brace from the turbine welded as an L shape and the other ended bolted to the engine seems to be the fix with those ebay manifolds.

In MX-3 forums thats how the fix/stop the manifold from cracking. The brace is not from the manifold to the engine.

I'll go get it welded sometime and try it sometime this week, thanks!

It was for a week or so, now it just blows off at the first sign of boost. The car is in pieces right now so hopefully I can figure out how to fix it.

I'm not too sure yet, probably going to take it to the guy who always does all my welding and see what he thinks. I'll let you know when I figure it out.

It seems like it'd be okay with a brace, or even without. I had this manifold for 10-15k miles with no problems. I think its because my down pipe got lodged in between my tranny and it wasn't letting it flex pipe do it's job. The welds are terrible though, and it's cracked right on top of the weld.

ToplessMiata 04-15-2010 01:01 PM

Nice build, just bought myself a 90 miata and gonna do a similar build but i too am curious is there any other td05 manifold that you guys have that wont crack. because i dont want to have this problem as well.

You can have one custom made. Only thing I'd buy off ebay is the intercooler, just a fyi.

Coilovers are here, installing the rears later on, and waiting for the front ball joints so I can do the front.

My front ball joints are in terrible condition for some reason, and when I say terrible.. I mean like, really terrible, they look like they could come apart at any second.

GregTSi 04-16-2010 01:12 PM

Drops pretty good in the rear, it's just about tucking tire with about 2'' left that I am still able to drop.. Pics coming later

GregTSi 04-16-2010 04:35 PM

This is just with the rears on, no fronts until mid this week. I still have around 2 and a half inches of drop left, and they still need to settle.

http://i41.tinypic.com/14xc490.jpg

I think I'm just gonna throw some spacers on the rear.

No problems what-so ever installing, perfect fit.
