wayne_curr 04-12-2009 11:15 PM

You have some bigger injectors to go with that MSPNP?

Good work, keep it up!

Vincent123 04-12-2009 11:18 PM

looks good, 18 inch rims on a NA? Get them mounted, I wanna see this

Oh yes and forgot to mention I have a walbro 255 LPH fuel pump and 440 CC Injectors laying around here somewhere :)

It currently has 17's on it :)

But the 18's look so much better.. I do have the rear ones on but have to wait for new studs for the Fronts.

railz 04-12-2009 11:26 PM

kool, i have the same 16g turbo set up too =) only thing i did was get rid of the china charger and got a real dsm TD05 16g turbo. i was scared the china turbo would blow up =]

oh and check your downpipe flange in a few thousand miles , my flange warped which led to a annoying exhaust leak and i had the remove the downpipe and get the flange resurface buts all good now.

some people may say the turbo manifold may be junk but mine and along with Magnamx-5's manifolds ours have lasted thousandsss of miles with no cracks.

also be sure to properly clock your CHRA (center housing rotating assembly)!

good luck and smart choice with the MSPNP!

I plan to get me a new one when i get some extra cash we will see how this one works out for now :)

I plan to run 10-12 PSI on the stock engine I'm pretty sure it will hold....? :)

kotomile 04-12-2009 11:37 PM

Looks good so far, turbo not hit block?

Make sure to replace the 10mm bolt for the AC where it goes through the oil pump. You won't be able to re-use the stock one, but without it you'll likely develop an oil leak like I did.

kww502 04-12-2009 11:38 PM

nice looking build so far. Keep up the good work. Those 18''s will look massive on that NA. I have 17s on mine and they look pretty good.

Thanks for the heads up i didn't even think of this.

y8s 04-13-2009 10:01 AM

noobs that post turbo install pics before 10 posts = win.

but yeah the 18" wheels will get no love here. you may even want to photoshop them out of your pics to avoid any disparaging comments :giggle:

oh and what the heck size is that pipe coming off the turbo? it looks way bigger than it needs to be.

MGrissom 04-13-2009 10:23 AM

It's 2 inch Piping.

skidude 04-13-2009 02:42 PM

This looks like an interesting build. 18" wheels, china charger, ebay manifold, should be a good, cheap build if it all holds up.

lol yea, I hope it holds.

Trent 04-13-2009 03:36 PM

IMO, you went the wrong way with the wheels (bigger instead of smaller), but if you like it, then that's all that matters.

The rest of the install, chinacharger and Ebay Motorsports kit, looks great. Hopefully, everything works out for it.

motorvated 04-13-2009 09:17 PM

i'llbe following this one!

jmack 04-13-2009 10:00 PM

Nice build but the 25+ lb wheels (dunno how much the tire will add as well) will definitely make it ride like shit. Get some 6ULs or anything that is at least less than 15 lb per wheel.

MGrissom 04-13-2009 10:54 PM

Couldn't get much done today as it rained all day :(

But, What i did is start running my oil and water lines to the turbo.. But, Thats about it :)

Hopefully it will be a better day tomorrow.

oh and if i end up not liking my 18's ill put my 17's back on.

I got them so cheap i couldn't turn them down.

-Michael

motorvated 04-14-2009 12:36 PM

You could have totally turned them down. Just because things are cheap, doesnt mean they are wise. Either way...goood luck

well considering there $1,400 wheels and tires i can resell them and make Double what i paid for them.

and i got a question about my oil drain would it be wise to use the stock spot on the 1.6 block or tap my oil pan?

Pitt 04-16-2009 09:04 AM

Epic.

TrickerZ 04-16-2009 09:26 AM

Are you getting a wideband o2 as well?

Turbo_4 04-16-2009 10:17 AM

Yes, I am.. Putting it in the other side when i get it.

sinhumane 04-16-2009 12:00 PM

i would look at a set of larger squirters to take care of that boost.. how much are you running?

tap your pan, dummy! no brainer...

and you wanna sell me those old wheels? those are nice :)

thagr81 us 04-16-2009 12:19 PM

As sin said... Tap the pan. The port in the block is pressurized... The drain needs to be gravity (no pressure).

NoMiEzMX-5 04-16-2009 12:38 PM

wow..you made quick work of that miata...keep us posted. Whats the total cost so far?

MGrissom 04-16-2009 07:39 PM

well the total (Cheap eBay kit) like 1k

MSPNP - 700

Random bitts and parts the gay kit didn't come with.. (200-300)

not to bad actually for a china charger :)

I plan to upgrade the kit soon this is just to get me started.

Chris_Himself 04-16-2009 07:44 PM

Hey what shifter are you using?

Props to you and anyone else that can work off their driveway on jackstands and cinderblocks and/or wooden crates :bigtu:

albumleaf 04-16-2009 11:50 PM

Great work but don't even bother with the 18's. I hate getting all m.net on this but seriously, 17's usually make the NA look like a donk as is.

MGrissom 04-21-2009 08:11 PM

Yea, Well i started my car idles good with the MSPNP... and im looking at the engine and i have water coming out my air filer im like wtf... so i pull my oil dipstick up and its all milky... z.z Think i crossed a water line into oil somewhere? IDK from me looking at it it looks fine.

Maybe i hooked a waterline up wrong to the turbo..? Is there anything else that could cause this?

-Michael

MGrissom 04-21-2009 09:12 PM

From what i can see everything is hooked up correctly...

anyone got any ideas?

skidude 04-21-2009 09:13 PM

Got any pictures of the oil/coolant lines?

Justaturbo95 04-21-2009 11:27 PM

Just finished installing this kit on a 91. I had to remake everything as nothing fit quite right. glad to see yours is fairing better. Per your posted pics, the turbo center would need re-clocked. Oil is on the sides and water is top/ bottom. Regardless of that, the inlet and outlet for each should be opposite sides on the turbo. pics please.

Thats what I was thinking..

I think you have them mixed up. Oil should be top and bottom and water on sides.
I bought my turbo used so figuring out the ins and outs wasn't to hard.

Justaturbo95 04-22-2009 10:14 AM

Mine is correct, maybe our reference is different so not clear. (Or I am in totally deep dodo) lol In his pic showing the downpipe. You can see the oil port facing the camera. (single hole) On top is the water with a plug beside it. (double holes) The plus is a dummy for a dead end. He would want to re-clock the turbo so the oil will drain properly from the turbo. Supply oil is a banjo fitting, return is a flange. Both water are banjos.

Justaturbo95 04-23-2009 12:16 AM

op - any chance for some pics?

MGrissom 04-23-2009 12:49 AM

Yes I did re clock it before i Hooked everything up i have the Oil clocked down with the flange fitting on bottom and the Banjo on top and water coming in on left and going out on right.

I will try to get a pic tomorrow if i remember.

MGrissom 04-23-2009 01:19 AM

So im sure everything is hooked up ok only thing i can see is one of my water lines coulda kinked.. (My water Return)

Would that mess anything up in my turbo?

Justaturbo95 04-25-2009 01:16 AM

would not expect a line kink to cause your failure. at least not this quickly. Turbo may have been broken from the beginning.

MGrissom 04-25-2009 02:28 AM

Thats what im thinking... There was water in the oil but no oil in the water... Soooo

MGrissom 04-26-2009 01:12 AM

In Needs of Clutch Still Want a good one for cheap..

Any Suggestions?

Sam Amporful 05-17-2009 12:18 AM

dont cheap out and save yourself from worry. best bang for buck are usually ACTs since most of them are even underrated. It should give you room for development and power progress in the future

hustler 05-17-2009 01:31 AM

get decent tires so you'll actually have some traction. Once I put in decent suspension I stopped spinning the tires in 4th too.
