so heres what happened, i got the ebay kit( i know first mistake) but i got it professionally installed by well known performance shop in my area, but as soon as i got the car back from them the wastegate blew off some where down the highway and i drove like that for at least 20mins until i got to my destination, contacted them and it was a new guy who put it on and didnt torque the bolts down correctly, and as i was talking to him about possible damage that could have done to the block he said it should be fine or it could have caused overboost.

So the guy came out re installed it and on my way home I noticed heavy shaking in the engine (motor mounts blew) which I expected so i changed those out, but now the engine has developed some type of “misfire sound or knock” i cant tell which one, the tuner said its misfire other people said its rod knock and im just confused at this point of what my next move should be, rebuild or just source another 1.8l

Hoping you guys could point me in the right direction.

I think you need a proper diagnosis before you do anything else.

If the engine really is knocking then your best (cheapest) option is probably to drop in another 1.8.

 

More boost.
