Default In to say hey.

Hey everyone. I'v been lurking around here for some time now, just thought i would say hi since im starting to get more serious about a DIY turbo setup.

i drive a 2001 NB and my power goals are 200-250 whp and im pretty new to turbo chargers. im reading maximum boost to get my self a base understanding on what to expect.

i know the 01+ have 10:1 compression ratio and vvti which makes it a little harder to get to where i want to be.

im pretty sure im going to go MS, but not sure on the version.. need to read a bit more. im think im guna run a custom made mini ram horn manifold, but i duno about which turbo... something budget... maybe used wrx turbo or something. what do you guys recomend considering that its a 2001 and my power goals?

what kinds of power can the 01+ miata's internals handle?

looking forward to learning a lot more.

you can do the MS on the 01 but you'll probably want to run it in parallel so you can use an airflow map to fool the MAF sensor and retain VVT control. I can't go into any more detail than that since I haven't done it, but it can be done with a little research. Otherwise, you can just run the VVT at full retard and forget about it.

I've been running ~260 rwhp for a while but I have a pretty conservative tune on my car and a fairly large turbo.

I'd say you can reach your goal if you have an efficient intercooler and good tuning with just about any easy to find / cheap turbo.

yes you will want a t3 s60 or bigger turbo to meet your gaols a 16g would also work very nicely in that range. GL man

If you aren't in a rush to do this, I will have my setup minus ECU and injectors for sale in a couple of months. It's good for around 200 rwhp. Not sure on a price yet, but it will be cheap.
