Default scania turbo build 1.6 n/a

hi chaps. I'm looking to build my miata turbo using a Scania turbo from a diesel truck

ive been told this engine will see 400bhp on stock internals?

advise would be great!

I will of course be running a intercooler to keep temps low!

My advice is to real all of the stickies in every section. Then go order an MK Turbo kit.

ive had a good look but not found them much help.

I'm not one for buying off the shelf as it tends to be overpriced and easy to do yourself.

You sound well informed. Carry on with your original plan.

-Looks around the room, certain a camera must be filming this.

No need for an intercooler chap, these engines like it hot. Just ram 30 psi boost down the little 1.6's throat and you'll be at 400 whp for no time. No time at all! I mean IN no time. Yes that's what I mean.

if you really read them you would know that the stock bottom end is good for 500hp. however you will need to do a head swap with the 2.0 from the NC miata.

the reason it varies is because some rev their 1.6 to 8000 rpm and some go all the way to 10k rpm.

the 1.6 can do this because it's so much lighter and higher revving. it's essentially a superbike engine that has been de-tuned to keep the car street legal, unlike the low revving lumps that came in the later years.

so basically remove the rev limiter, add an fmu to keep the fuel in check, and just crank it up. I would keep it at 450hp though for reliability

Thanks for the tips.

ive had a good read and I feel I'm right.

the car is for my wife, I'm not a mx fan mainly because I've got a proper car to use most of the time so they are ideal for the little lady indoors just every time I drive it its just so underpowered.

are you saying that I will need to forge the bottom end to see the figures I want?

no definitely don't need forge bottom. but you might
make sure she gets a license plate that tells people how manly her husband is, so they don't accidentally confuse her with one of us flamboyant bottom hairdresser deviants.
