Default Should I ARTech Top or side-mount?

* 91' 1.6 aiming for ~200-240hp

Ok guys so I am a few weeks away from FINALLY putting my order in with ARTech for a manifold/ DP. All I want is a fun street car. Are there any negatives to going with the side-mount? I am just looking for a little re-assurance before I drop $1000 on this stuff lol I am not looking to make crazy power, and I figure I will keep my A/c for the future wife so I won't be going with the bottom mount. Will the top-mount suffice my needs or should I do the side-mount? Also... I will be running a Tial EWG. I don't want to have to worry about boost creep.... Maybe it's over-kill, but for an extra couple hundred bucks it's worth the piece of mind to me.

IMO:

top mounting the turbo makes it tons easier to work on the thing. side mounting is beneficial to better flowing downpipes due to less bends.

you could argue about weight etc, but im sure Abe will brace either setup to negate this, if needed.

also, top mounting looks baller.

Haha I did pick Abe's brain about it a little bit when I was E-mailing him back and forth .... I was just hoping to have a couple guys personal experiences one way or the other. I am sort of leaning towards the top mount now because --->

A.) It will save me a little bit of $$
B.) I am not looking to make crazy power
C.) and I ball so hard ****'s wanna fine me..... So I might as well top mount

I've had a greddy top mount and now my artech side mount. Definitely go with the side mount, purely because of the dp routing. It's super straight, and keeps a lot of heat out the engine bay, that would other wise be sitting in the bend by your throttle cable. It also makes intercooler routing easier, since it doesn't have to clear the "shelf", as it's already below it.

I would do the side mount also. For the exact reasons Curly mentioned. There's a lot of plastic and rubber to protect with a top mount (which is what I have -- Greddy -- but I lust after the side mounts).

Thanks guys... leaning back towards the side mount. Glad I asked for opinions before just blindly changing my mind!

I'd say greddy proved it was easy to produce a top mount cast manifold. fM and begi kinda showed us its not the best route. They've gotta have their reason.

you know to support your turbo so your mani doesn't crack. You can only go as long as the cable will though so make sure the crane has a long cable.

Sub'd because I'm in the same boat. Hoping to join the "reliable street car master race" myself, and ARTech seems to be the way to go as far as I have seen.

Yeah I made up my mind already lol... Going side mount and I'll be making some support braces to make sure it holds its strength. Another $300 I need to save and i'll be ordering

ok, so i'm thread jacking cuz i';m on the same exact boat...hope it goes somehwree!

so, anyways, i just spoke to the guy at artech, i didn't want to bother him too much but here is the question i had:
will the log style be good for how much HP?
this will be side mounted with an external wastegate just because

guy says it'll be at least 8 weeks before shipping it out which is fine with me as my project has been parked for 2 months now and im expecting to finish in about 1 years time.

thanks for the info guys
you guys rock.

Your question gives us no specifics as to your goals, turbo size, application, etc.

Therefore, a log style will be good for ALLOFIT
