Any ideas on how this flex tubing would work for external wastegate tubing? I know audis used a bellow type stainless tube and there's the woven stainless flex tube sections (as used in the exhaust). - rob
That stuff is junk. You see it used in lower grade turbo systems alot and it usually ends up with a hole burnt though it or leaking at both sides where it is clamped. Your best bet is to pick up a small flex bellows like this http://stores.channeladvisor.com/ver...itemid=3039310
If you need something temporary till you could have something fabbed than the JC Whitney stuff would work.

Road Race Engineering who has been in the DSM business forever uses the flex in the OP for some of their EWG setups. Seems to work for them. I've had braided flex sections fail just as much as the accordian style sections. In fact, the last uppie I had for my turbo Forester had a braided section and it failed.

There are some lesser quality flex bellows out there for sure. I know they don't last a long time when they are installed under load or in place of a slight bend. Everything I have ever bought from Vertex/Verocious has been outstanding quality though so I wouldn't hesitate to buy one of these little guys from them. A lot of reputable companys use the cheesy flex sections in their kits. I think it has more to do with cost and ease of fab than anything.

The flex sections are definitely fragile. You're only supposed to use them when you need them, not when you want them. If you're actually seeing more than a degree or two of flex, they'll die fast.
But there's enough flex in a miata exhaust to not bother with one in the main pipe. I just want one for lining up flanges--it'll never move under normal use, just when I'm installing.
