My turbo doesnt have a intake point for the wg)

Comparing pre-intercooler and post-intercooler temps would be awesome info for us Starion users. I've heard (no idea on accuracy) 1.5 psi pressure loss. Also, are you using the 16-row or the 14-row. Again, I've heard the 14-row has less pressure loss, that's the one i'm using.

Are you saying you're going to hook up your boost gauge pre-intercooler, test it. Then, hook up boost gauge post-intercooler and test, then compare?

The pressure loss would also vary depending on setups. Someone running 6psi is going to get different loss than running 12psi on the same setup, so a blanket number is not really possible. Still, I'd love to see any testing done :bigtu:

The lower pressure drop will account for a lot because not only is it spooling quicker but you arent working the compressor as hard either to maintain boost.

The Starion was enough for me to run a 12.2 @ 117 but I needed to move on since Im looking for 350whp. If I had to guess I would say the Starion IC is good up to about 250whp, after that its getting pushed past its design limits.

Andy, this is great real-world information. Thanks for sharing.:)

First, "the better design I/C worth 10-15whp," was this at the same power level? 10-15whp over 217whp? I'll be shooting for 180whp, but of course I'd love to get as much as possible. With the numbers you've achieved I'm going to stop thinking about it. And anyway, it's impossible to predict what part of my setup will be the limiting factor until I actually get there.

I hear you on the compresser not working as hard (thus lower charge temps) but my turbo being "rated" at 36 lb/min would it really make a discernable difference?

Thanks for your help.. :bigtu:

The 10-15whp is purely speculation....I have nothing to back that up. But thats just what I would expect to gain with a better flowing core and more efficent core. Your compressor is not going to be working hard anyways, so youll be just fine with a modest 180whp. The Starion IC will support 180whp without even breaking a sweat, and with your short pipes you should have quick throttle response as well.
