Ah, touche'. So, why around the lower radiator then? Is it just easier to build a drop kit? Oh, and I apologize for the previous butchery of your username. Stripes' sounds better anyway...

Piping is also really cheap on ebay.

I also sell tubing if anyone is in need. I have done enough business that I can now get steel and or stainless from 1.5"-3.0" from straight to any bend you want.

Man get a ebay intercooler with side inlet/outlets it'll make your routing so much easier compared to that setup.
Pretty cheap and it will make your life alot easier.

when you're all done with your kit you'll probably spend as much as stripes kit, and i have a feeling your hardware won't be as of such high quality.

Yes. I built this kit to fit a stock Miata and stock Greddy kit with little to no modification to your car. Intercooler pipes can be run over the radiator, but you will need to modify your hood and radiator for pipe clearance.

Don't worry about my username, it's a stupid name anyway.

do you have a kit to work with a starion ic? I have the ic, but need the piping.

Well, I've both read and heard a lot of excellent info over the past couple of days, but just wanted to thank you guys for the help. I think I may just have a friend bend some pipe for my Eclipse IC, y'know, just 'cause I have to be different...:bigtu:

For my IC piping I used flannel sheets. They are super air tight.

magnamx-5 12-17-2006 04:14 PM

i used coolant hose and metal exhaust bends to do a working modle and then had a 1 peice setup made from that at the local muffler shop, i seen a BMW at a autoX that used resined flanel cotton for an airbox it was weird but worked

No, the Starion intercooler will not work with my pipes. In all honesty, I think you would be better off selling your intercooler and picking up a cheap eBay bar and plate intercooler for under a 100 dollars. I've driven two Greddy miatas with Starion intercoolers and then replaced them with my kit. There was a huge difference in performance. Spool up time was greatly improved and in both cases the new intercooler produced more power. New intercoolers have become affordable over the past year and I see no reason to strangle your turbo with older technology.

You could copy Jim's setup with about 15mins of work.
