Disco potato comparison, blue line is .64 A/R and red line is .86 A/R. 400rpm for 11ft.lbs? :loser: |
lol this should be good

11 ft lbs is almost small enough for run-to-run variation, but that left half is significant.
|
What engine? Is this on your 99 1.8?
|
Big difference indeed. Do you have a comparison plot to the GT2560R that I run?
|
What are EGT's doing?
That's interesting. I went with the larger turbine for EGT lowness. However, I still need to get back to the dyno because my AFR's are too rich out of boost, and spark table needs some work. I plan on doing this in May. There is still more work I can do to make my tune better, and I'm not sold on using a smaller turbine housing to lower spool exclusively. I think I can still reap the benefits of the larger hot-side if I work on a few other things. |

My car would make 292whp/282wtq on that dyno considering the 12% change from a local dynojet to the dynodynamics which I've shown in real data, and backed-up by keyboard jockeys. However, my interest is piqued because my car makes more power than I wanted initially. I'm probably just going to leave it how it is. Any chance we can get a look at this car's spark table? |
To quantify a bit, this was from an MR2. GT2860RS, they just swapped the hotsides to see what the difference would be.
|
you mean "qualify." lulz
|
Well I would say I am glad I got the .64 AR housing on my 2871. I'll give up a little torque for that much additional spool.
Did I mention even with my initial crap tune I was seeing 12 psi at ~3300 rpm? |

1ZZ-FE has variable intake cam timing. Don't know what that does to spool compared to a BP.
I agree that the area to the left is educational and interesting, though I wonder what difference enriching it a bit would make on the red graph. For a street DD (or autocross even), it looks like a .64 would be better putting around town. I think the low end benefits are better than the minor HP drop comparatively. |
