Default Swapping from a 5 bolt turbo to vband, which downpipe elbow should I use?

So I'm looking at ditching my 2860churbo that's on Kraken hot parts. I have Kraken topmount manifold, kraken 5 bolt to vband elbow, to the rest of the kraken downpipe exhaust. I'm looking at the pulsar G25-550 with the t25 flange, but it only comes with a vband fitting for your downpipe. So I have to ditch my kraken elbow, and then I just need a new elbow with vband on both ends, one to turbo, one to the rest of the existing dp. Anyone know if this elbow exists premade anywhere? I can weld but it aint pretty so I was hoping something already existed that's tried and true that I don't know about. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Does not exist. You will have to get it custom made.

Also know the Pulsar G25 T2 housing is .72AR, while the Garrett T2 housing is .48/.49AR. So the Pulsar one will spool a bit slower. I am not sure of the differences in spool yet. But hopefully one day in the future I get to test them back to back to see.

There are any number of places where you can get a generic 90* v-band downpipe in 2.5 and 3" "flavors". The problem is that they are GENERIC and not specific to your setup. You can measure for what you need and then spend hours scouring fleabay and/or Google for the "perfect fit", but odds are that it's not out there (or, if it is, it's either a cheap Chinese part of unknown quality or made of unobtanium and costs more than your engine).

Better to go to an exhaust shop an have them fab up something that fits right the first time. You'll be better off in the long run.

I am thoroughly looking forward to that comparison. Currently shopping around and trying to get newer better tech than the old disco potato without paying the crazy G-tax of Garret products. A GTX2871R seems like another good option (the pulsar version) but my understanding is the G25-550 is going to be "better". Currently sitting at 320whp which does the job. I dont necessarily need more power, but earlier spool would be nice and more power never hurts.

@rwyatt365 Yeah I figured once I spent 20 minutes searching for it and nothing obvious popped up this was probably the case. I'm not 100% sure on the g25 but heavily leaning in that direction. It seems to check the boxes I'm looking for but I really wish there was more info and others who have tried it first. I'm not typically one to be a trend setter but tend to prefer to follow the "tried and true" methods. Just seems like new and useful tech, but I'm also not totally certain the Pulsar will replicate the Garret in accomplishing earlier spool with good top end. Just was wondering if someone had a good bolt on solution. If I do go this route I'll likely take it to my local exhaust wizard.

FWIW - I had a Chinese knock-off 2871 (two of them, by the way, from different sources) on a Kraken top-mount manifold. I ordered this ebay downpipe and it was okay, but the vband ended up right where the steering column was - which caused some "interesting" steering wheel vibrations. Then I ordered this downpipe from Hinmi Racing (which I'm currently using with my EFR). It's adequate and better quality than the ebay item. The rest of my exhaust system is home-built, fabulously ugly and more or less functional. Eventually, I'll get a "real" exhaust system, but...

I have no experience with the g25, but the EFR has proven to be as good as everyone has said it would be and I couldn't be happier with it.

Hopefully in a few months I can give you some actual data on how they compare. Currently sitting at 3 G25's on my shelf. Along with a number of other Garrett turbo's to test.

That's helpful thanks. I think I'll have to get a g25 bolted up first to see about measurements. I doubt the Himni one would bolt directly to the rest of my existing exhaust but that would be awesome if it was the perfect fit!

Good to hear about the EFR turbo. I just simply don't want to redo all my hot side stuff to make it happen and I really don't want to pay EFR price. Trying to find a reasonable solution without breaking the bank atm.
