For my next setup I will be putting together a V-mount using a Solstice intercooler and lowering the radiator with custom brackets. The core dimensions are 26-1/4" x 6-3/4". Overall dimensions are 33-1/2" x 6-3/4" x 2-3/4". Inlet and outlet tubes are both 2-1/2" diameter. I will also be making an air diverter to direct more air.

Did you paint it or did it come like that.

Atlanta93LE 03-21-2008 03:49 PM

Take the tubes off the bottom and block the passages. Don't ask why, just do it.

Saml01 03-21-2008 03:50 PM

^ Hmm, what is that? some sort of bypass?

Atlanta93LE 03-21-2008 03:54 PM

Nope, not a bypass. If you're interested, go check out the solstice forums; they might have it figured out by now, but I'm not getting into it here.

cjernigan 03-21-2008 03:55 PM

PS cooler?

Atlanta93LE 03-21-2008 03:56 PM

Nope.

zoom2zoom 03-21-2008 03:57 PM

it's supposedly a way to remove condensation or water if present. but feel free to post your knowledge on the matter if you know more.

ok...so. what are they?

why do people bring something up and then refuse to talk about it. :jerkit:

Atlanta93LE 03-21-2008 04:01 PM

Ok good, so it's been figured out. Last I had heard it was still a mystery GM wasn't ready to share. Think about it though...you have condensation in a controlled accumulation in the intake tract...what do people do with water in the intake? Take a look under the hood of a Skystice, and the electronics/sensors in the intake tract. You can figure it out.

Saml01 03-21-2008 04:29 PM

Are you fucking serious... water injection?

Atlanta93LE 03-21-2008 04:36 PM

I didn't say that... ;) Look at the electronics...the ECU most certainly knows, and takes advantage, when vaporized water is entering the chambers, whether it can be considered "injection" or not could be up for debate.

zoom2zoom 03-21-2008 05:37 PM

interesting, do you know more?

Joe Perez 03-21-2008 05:59 PM

Here are some better pictures:

It's just two pieces of hose, with a loop on one end. At the other end, both hoses connect to the tank.

Arkmage 03-21-2008 06:51 PM

the ecu can accomodate WI without any issue, but I know for a fact that the ECU is not configured to control WI in a solstice. I was on the design team the built the damned ECUs (model code: MED 9.6.1). unless something changed after the 2nd year of the model anyways... the first two I know didn't have it in the ecu.

sorry for the hijack.

So should I leave the tubes alone or cap them off?

MX_Eva 03-21-2008 10:49 PM

I would cap them off. You don't need them for anything so why bother.

Atlanta93LE 03-22-2008 05:01 PM

Of course it isn't water "injection" :vash: there's no nozzle, etc.
