It's only been like a week. Still compressing...

Highly considering picking up one of these snails and holding on to it until I start throwing the turbo system together mid-winter. Hope to hear more good things as the days go on!

Any Updates?

I'm a little confused with the technical talk. If I ran one of these with a standard BP 1.8, how would it compare to my GT2554r? I'm looking for more power, without a huge loss in low end accessibility.

What sort of peak power could I expect to make?

How is the Chinacharger holding up?

Its still doing amazingly in his car. Now that we put in a fresh bottom end hes getting great spool. Plus we found out that the chra is some form of ss casting. It has some coloring from heat and has no rust at all.

I'm running the tb28 in mine...very similar to this turbo and it's still holding up perfect. After 10k it has the same shaft play it started with, minimal. It hasn't leaked any oil or anything. The only issue I've had with mine is having to have the waste gate flapper door welded so it doesn't move a lot. For the price, it's perfect. If it goes out I was planning on going with the turbo from this thread.

I put one on a Rabbit track car Im helping a friend build and its seen some miles and a track day with no problems so far

Great news! I think I will be going the china charger route in my build.

How is the turbo doing? Is it not beeing water cooled not a problem? Did you use the v-band connector? If so, what did you do as far as the DP?

I am looking to build a NASA TTC/DD. I would love to drop 4K on a kit but if it can be done for less I would not mind. I am interested and am looking for the same power output and early spool.

Have a great day,
Jared

So far so good. Especially now that I have a strong shortblock in place. No, I did not use the v-band adapter as I already had a DP built for my standard 3-bolt wastegate.

I prefer the top-end I got from my real Garrett Super 60 T3, however, I do like that low-end torque im getting with this guy. Butt dyno says +20tq but -20hp. Dyno results on Nov 14th.

With mine, I had a local shop cut off the vband section and weld my fm begi downpipe. Everything fits perfect after doing that.

Braineack 10-22-2009 11:25 AM

You can clearly see in this shot that I bolted on my original wastegate:

Are you running both ports on the wg actuator?

Braineack 10-22-2009 02:13 PM

No, I'm not that cool. You can see from my log it's holding flat at 14psi with just a MBC on the top port.

AbeFM 10-22-2009 03:58 PM

I like the heat sheild

Turbo_4 10-22-2009 04:10 PM

Just curious, which fitting did you use for your oil feed? I could never seem to figure out the size so whatever I used I just jbwelded the bitch in to keep it from leaking.

jayc72 10-22-2009 04:17 PM

You are missing a bolt on your valve cover.

neogenesis2004 10-22-2009 04:18 PM

Thats where the other heatshield bolts to, it was not put on yet.
