Default Turbo build update.

My MS2 is almost done thanks to Reverant, so I decided to get started on the turbo install.

I'm using a BEGI log manifold.
Garrett GT2560 turbo with upgraded turbine wheel and housing.
Greddy type s BOV
Ebay Bar and plate intercooler.
Ebay universal charge pipe kit.
Bosch EV14 650cc injectors.
2-1/2" stainless exhaust with high flow cat and Magnaflow muffler.
F1 clutch.

I pulled the motor and tranny today, put in the clutch, oil feed line, removed the EGR pipe and capped the intake manifold, moved water neck for coolant reroute, removed oil pan and TIG'D in a bung for the drain line. I put it all back in the car and proceeded to install the turbo with oil feed and return lines aswell as the cooling lines are finished up.

Tomorrow I am going to tackle the intercooler and piping and maybe get the down pipe built.

My car is really dusty under the hood, I have to clean it up when I get it done.

Well I got a little more work done today.

The intercooler and charge pipe are in as well as the Greddy BOV.

I like that hotside pipe routing. I had pretty much given out routing the pipe that way with the big 99-00 headlights (01+ there seems to be a lot more space)...but you did a nice job!

I had to cut a little bit of the plastic tab on the headlight, but nothing serious, it fits together pretty good for a Ebay universal kit. Hopefully I can get the downpipe done tomorrow and start it up. I'm not going to change the injectors unitl my MS2 gets here, so I can at least idle the car and check for leaks.

From what I read, with a good tune, there should not be any issues with 15psi on the stock engine, provided it is in good condition.

The stock engine can handle 15 psi with a good tune, this is a good news , my goal is 12 psi. Do you use the car for every day car or just for hobby car?

do you have a calculation what you spend for the kit? I'm just curious, how much i have to spend for a turbo kit.

Here's what I have spent so far.

Turbo $650
BEGI manifold with gaskets $450
CX racing intercooler $66 Ebay.
Universal intercooler piping kit $100 Ebay.
Reverant MS2 PNP $680
Bosch EV14 650cc injectors $300 Ebay.
LC1 Wide band with blue guage $167 Ebay.
Oil feed and drain lines, cooling lines $100 Ebay.
F1 stage 3 clutch $165 Ebay
Auto meter boost guage $45 Ebay
Auto meter EGT $150 Ebay
Greddy type S BOV $100 used.
DIY auto tune GM AIT $25
Magnaflow muffler, high flow cat and mandrel bends to build custom exhaust $400

So I am at around $3300 for everything, it is a lot cheaper to shop around and buy things seperate, but a kit is a lot more Convenient. Just make a list and work you way down throught it.

This is my first turbo miata, but I have put together 5 turbo civics, 1 toyota 4 runner, 1 1jz swapped 1974 FJ40 and I am just finishing a VW 1.9 turbo diesel swap in a custom suzuki SJ410.
