I wish SamNavy's internet was working a little better than it is currently.

Damn... I've gotta go launch planes in 15 minutes, Gladiator is on, I just learned one of my guys is snorting ground-up Vicodin pills, and I am needed on the internet... priorities...

Anyways. To MIATA2005, don't go away. You made the most classic of all online forum mistakes... you joined and started asking questions without doing any prior homework. Turbocharging a vehicle is not an easy process... especially not easy to do it right. There are dozens of parts both mechanical and electrical that are involved, and $1000 is nowhere near enough money to properly turbo a 2005.

To properly do a 2005 for somebody who doesn't want to be constantly tinkering with it... ie, "install and mostly forget", you'll be looking at a "kit" made by one of the 2 big manufacturers of Miata turbo kits, either FlyinMiata or BellEngineering. Find their websites an have a look. After buying the electronics, you're into the $5k range... not cheap.

If you're just looking about 10whp or so, investigate an "exhintake swap" and "adjustable camgears." For about $250 and an afternoon of wrenching, you do these mods. Of course there are always the standard intake/exhaust mods to be done that might be good for another 5-10whp... you'd be surprised what an extra 20whp does for Miata. Beyond that, you're looking at many thousands of dollars to get a reliable well built turbo kit.

OH yah, and learn the lesson about forums... read all the stick'ys first. If there is a NOOB section "MEET & GREET", then post there first... who know's there might even be a couple sticky's in the NOOB forum that tell you how to be a good NOOB... whaddya know?

every body is giving you shit, Its normal man :D

Read up here on ebay kits then read the link on the first page. It will save you the 1000 you got plus the cost of a new engine when the ebay kit blows up.

If you have two miatas, why not just sell one of them and use the money to turbo the other? If setup correctly, a turbo setup is very reliable. You just can't half ass it. If you are mechanically inclined and can use something like the new diypnp from diyautotune, then you might be able to get something going for 3k. You will just have to take your time buying up parts as the good deals come along. Do it right and you will save a lot of time and money by not repaying for mistakes.

Did anyone even think that the guy might be from overseas where you could get an NB with a 1.6L? I don't think he has 2 miata's. But he's gone anyways so it doesnt matter.
