Default Turbo to hood clearance

Please share your opinions on how much clearance is needed for the turbo/hood. I am building a top mount setup and my turbo is going to be closer to the hood than planned. How close is too close?

why don't you instead show us what you're working with (plans of how you wanna do it)

there's plenty of top mount setups on here all clear unless you want to do something really crazy.

also your dp is going to look like crap

anything mounting the turbine inlet higher than the ports outlet height and you're gonna have a bad time

my custom etd shorty cleared fine too, but wasn't completely top mount

I think that's as high as you can go

Mine clears, will get pics soon. I am just wondering how close to the hood is too close. What is considered the minimum. ...1"? 2"?.....I assume if there is less than an inch the paint on the hood might be in jeopardy?

it will probably be fine.

you can get some of that gold or silver stick on reflective stuff to keep the paint from frying

If you're worried about it, put a blanket on that bitch.

Bitches love blankets.

Been looking for a pic of 18PSI's IC piping. Do you have A/C delete to allow this?

Please steer me to some more pics. IIRC, your build thread pic links are no longer working.

Thanks, DNM

Default Found Fat Pig Build

Maybe that will have what I'm looking for. Looks like radiator moved aft.

ETD Top mount here, no clearance issues at all. The hood was getting a little hotter than I wanted so I stuck a couple of pieces of insulation we use on our boiler casings on it. Where the turbo sits is now the coolest part of the hood after a spirited drive.
