Default turbo manifold for a 1.8

What's a good manifold for a 1.8?
Is this any good ? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/OBX-R...Q5fAccessories

I'm not looking for monster boost/HP, 200 - 250hp.

If your looking for a cheap BUT reliable manifold that you wont have to replace a few months later buy one from BEGi or Flyin'miata.

If your looking for something more custom and one of a kind ask ARTech what he can do for you.

OR PM Turbo Tim. There's a bunch of us on here that are very impressed with the results. I was researching BEGI and FM, but after a few folks (including a couple of moderators) recommended Tim, I was sold.

He's a stand up guy, guarantees his work, etc.

The FM one is $100 more, id suggest that you do that, and you have the reliability of a cast iron, and warrenty under FM

Are you looking to make your own downpipe? Are you capable and willing to reweld it when it breaks? Is it worth saving $100 for that headache?

AHGODAMNIT! I always think there's a chance people are talking about intake manifold design when I see "turbo" and "manifold" near each other. I suppose that's a bad, albeit optimistic, habit...

Holy ****, what language was that written in?

Intercoolers are pretty damned simple to make, and even the ones coming out of the Chinese orphanages nowadays work reasonably well.

In my own experience, you can also get reasonably good bypass valves from these folks. I bought a knockoff of a Greddy RS valve several years ago (to replace the old-style piston based one I bought from FM's bargain bin, which was crap out of the box) and it's been running problem-free for about four years now.

ebay mani = garbage, i tried one once i got for free (turbo civic) just to see how it held up within the month it pretty much cracked all to hell. i have jgs, $460, cast iron, top mount, love it. i have an ebay ic cuz i honestly i really couldnt find another top ent/ext any where else, and a knock off hks ssqv came w/ it and works just fine (for now).

what is so cool about top mount log manifolds?

the higher the turbo sits the harder it is to route the dp and the more bends it will have.

I'd imagine BOVs are pretty simple to machine, so the chineses should do ok with it. I really like the tial Q. Anyone have any experience with it? The porting on it reminds me of my 2-stroke days, they look similar to good intake ports just kind of in a different view =P

I went top mount so I could keep the A/C. Your right about the down pipe though. 2.5" diameter DP barely fits as it sits now.

Unless Rube Goldberg designs me a 3" or I trim the firewall behind it, I'm stuck with the 2.5".

I could probably get something to work but I've done so much damn work on the car, it would be a nice change of pace to drive the thing for a while.

I think the best bet for the money is top mount custom built by Abe with the collector moved to center of the 1st and 2nd exhaust ports. Then you have more room to fit in a 3" dp. Whether it's top-mount or side mount is a preference from what I can tell.

OK, I stayed away from ebay and got a used FM setup on craigslist (cast manifold, small turbo (2554??) and upper half of downpipe).

I built my MS last weekend (MS1+IAC and FAN mods), still looking for injectors and intercooler.

sounds like a pretty good choice for some reliable equipment.

i have an intercooler for sale, with the bracket too. man, Seattle....shipping would probably be over 20 bucks at least cause it's kinda big and heavy.

anyways, core dimensions for mine are 18" L, 6.25" T, 3.5" D.

i ran it on a t25 perfectly fine at 12-14 lbs.

On the other hand, EBAY intercoolers, silicone hoses, piping and clamps are pretty good.
