What i like is that, by my math, you put out 15 lb/min at redline through the exhaust...so about 7.5 lb/min each....the 1544's efficiency max was at 6.3 lb/min, the 1548's are at 8 lb/min....so they should make better hp per psi. they do look physically bigger in there...how long before two 2056s? Now that the manifold has T2 flanges, all that needs to be redone is the downpipe. Unfortuantely that's the hardest part. With these turbos the downpipe covered one bolt hole so we had to drill a hole and weld a tube thru the downpipe and use a ~3" long bolt. I should have layed the 2871 in there to see if it fit. ;) |

I'm extremely happy to see this setup still exists and is finally in a running vehicle, I believe with the 4th owner. The lower half/Y-portion of the downpipe went missing somewhere along the way (the piece that was the biggest bitch to make), and the cold-side Y-pipe was trimmed a bunch, but the current owner made it work and it lives!

Heya! I'm the "new" owner!
I actually obtained this setup I think 7 or 8 years ago. Back then I was trying to install it in my '94, but since I had no idea what I was doing and was a poor college student, I never finished it. Last summer, I decided to pick up a '99 and try again. I only have a rough street tune at the moment and haven't been to a dyno so I have no idea what kind of power it's making, but I'm sitting at 14 psi and it's a blast to drive! |
This looks awesome! How do you think it'd do with a different set of turbos? I've got two gt2052s that I'd had given to me, and they both work fine, and I think it'd be a pretty cool build!
