Unbolted turbo wont clock
 

Well I got the disco potato (used) and I dont like how is clocked I looked up how to clock such and I did as followed:

I unbolted the six bolts on the intake side and the six on the exhaust then i tried to clock it and the thing just wont turn. This is my first time handling a turbo :noob: and I dont want to cause any damage to it by applying brute force or so. Please advide

Brute force is generally needed. I thought I was forcing my T25 too hard but was told it would take some effort to get it moving. After you get it broke free it will go easier. I bolted the inlet flange to a 2x4 and clamped that in the vice on my bench and then inserted a piece of pipe wrapped with a bunch of duct tape to prevent damage into the outlet and heaved on it. After it moved it was much easier to move it into final position.

Oh damn I thought i was going to seriously brake something I did figure that due to the temperatures the turbo is exposed some adhesion would be in the equation but i wanted to make sure first I dont have another couple of hundreds to spare like that (me = broke). Hey would WD40 help

Some people used PB Blaster and the such. They ususally just stick a broomstick in the outlet and pull. It will come.

After some serious attempts, i stuck the turbo in the oven for about 15-20 mins. 3 hits later on the intake side with a rubber mallet and the thing decided to budge.

Um..... doesn't it have a snap ring? Just release the snap ring and it should move freely. I've seen paul do this numerous times.

Not all turbo's have a snap ring. I found with my turbo I couldn't rotate the center, so I removed the compressor, and then gently tapped the center of the turbo out of the main housing. turned it and reinserted.
