VTA BOV & TDR I/C ???'s

Yes... I did a search both here and at wine&cheese.net too... [Maybe I didn't use the right key words?]

I just bought a used TDR intercooler from a guy here on the forum. It is set-up to be used with a Greddy system but I still think I can make it work fine on my 1995 with the BEGI manifold and this Garrett/Nissan 300zx turbo. No biggie there.

The problem is that the intake side has one port for a VTA BOV [more on that later] and there is no place for the tube that runs from the throttle body to the stock intake. I guess I can always have one welded on, but what does this tube do and has anyone routed it in differently?

Now about the VTA BOV... It is a Turbonetics Megasonic. From what I have read this baby is LOUD! I don't really want that. I already have a Megasquirt from Brainiack that I will be running piggyback and I have the AIT sensor that I will be screwing into the rubber connector at the intake, so I don't ahve to run a recirculated BOV, but I do want one that is not obnoxious. Can I quite this one down or should I just sell it and buy another one that is quite? Any suggestions on a quite one or maybe a swap from someone on the forum?

I'm still waiting on parts from BEGI, but I will be starting on the build soon and was just trying to get all my ducks in a row. Thanks for any help.

I have a intake pipe from that guy who ran the 15psi website or whatever the hell it was.. I'll sell it to you for mad cheap if you want it.. It has the connections for your IAC (the little tube you mentioned there is no port for) and for a BOV.
as for the BOV you could put foam over the outlets to quite it down.. I might have a Greddy RS if you want to trade

you can leave it disconnected from the intake. since you're running a MAP sensor, it doesn't matter where you source your air for the idle valve. you might consider a filter on it.

Thanks for the offer, but I think I will just try putting a little air filter on the pipe like Brainiack says and call it a day. As far as the AIT sensor, I think I will just drill a tight hole in the rubber/silicone hose connector and screw it in there.

Let me research about the Greddy RS. I might want to trade. I honestly don't know much about either BOV. This one looks like it is built well.

Good tip about putting some foam over the trumpets. I was thinking about something of that nature. I wonder what kind of pressures it will see? I was thinking about just taking off the trumpets and putting some kind of foam sleeve over the whole thing. I'll see what I can come up with.

Cool let me know.

try to keep the AIT out of the engine bay...

OK... So that tube is going to the idle air valve. Cool. I am going to just run a filter on it like you say and see how that works.

Thanks for the quick response.

Wait a minute... I know this is a dumb question, but it is not supposed to plug into the intake track after the intercooler?

OK... You are talking about putting in the Intake track, after the intercooler, but out of the engine bay... Like this?

correct.

Also, if you have not done so already, and the valve works without them, take those gay-ass horns off of the port outlets! That should help with the noise.

nicacus 04-19-2009 03:59 PM

I like the horn on my blow off valve.. Without it the noise was louder, it's higher pitched with it on it, more of a whistle sound. but definitely quieter.
