Went to the dyno today.

So, i went to the dyno today. A little less power than i expected but that just means that there is power left on the table.

Very nice numbers, I think there is still left on the table.
You need a real exhaust, go to a 3" off the turbo and you should see some gains in both power and spool.

Splitime 06-06-2008 11:11 AM

You stopped revving at 5600? You sorta missed out on more of your powerband...

MX54PLA 06-06-2008 11:14 AM

Nice numbers...I also left power on the table...:jerkit:2.25" exhaust!

you let off wayyyy too early. the turbo is spooling slow for a 1.8 and losing torque fast. needs more exhaust.

even if we guess that you lost torque in a linear fashion to redline, you would of had a peak HP of 226. you lost 15 tq from 4700 to 5700. lets say you drop 25 more from 5700 to 7000. thats a total of 170 rwtq at 7000rpm....giving you 226rwhp.

we dont drive mustangs...we drive high reving miatas.

i am running 3" crush bent(i know i know) from the dp back. When the cutout is open, it is basically 3" straight pipe

wes65 06-06-2008 11:26 AM

one of the tuners there said to pull some timing and fuel down low to make the turbo spool faster. I also need ebc.

Braineack 06-06-2008 11:27 AM

was the cutout open? how much boost was it? why did you lift?

wes65 06-06-2008 11:28 AM

i have another sheet. Sorry, i got up early this morning and didnt think when i snapped a pic of that one. The other one is 219 peak hp.

yes, dumping fueling and retarding timing as the turbo spools will help...let me look at your timing map. also remember, mustang dynos read fairly low compared to the SAE standard dynojet dyno, unless they corrected for it.

wes65 06-06-2008 11:28 AM

the other one goes to redline.

With it being that choppy i think i have spark blow out. My plugs are gapped to .25 but i have shitty 7.5mm wires.

wes65 06-06-2008 11:39 AM

sorry, post whoring. anyway, i was running 14psi and the cutout was open.

m2cupcar 06-06-2008 11:58 AM

You're torque curve is screaming for a parachute. ;)
Have not looked at your log, but I'm going to guess you need IGN advance. I think that last run had 245rwhp in it based on what was happening prior to the free fall.

ok, that's very odd for a your turbo to run out of efficiency like that. you are running plenty of spark in boost. i gotta blame the exhaust.

but logging at the logs, you can see where the boost starts to rise slowly, then starts making it fast. it's also at the same time you finally retard a lot of spark. dropping from 27° to 20°

I personally start at 10-12° at low boost/rpms and build to 17° at redline. it's safe to add timing as rpms increase.

now take a look at how my turbo spools compared to your.....i have a t3 super 60. so we actually have the same exact compressor wheel, and we have the same exact manifold. now my turbine is actually larger than yours, and if you have a .63 a/r then we have equal a/r. so with your 1.8L you should spool faster than me, but that's not the case.....notice my spark angle....

Braineack 06-06-2008 12:20 PM

oh i just noticed you dont have an EBC yet....get on that son!

wes65 06-06-2008 12:30 PM

Would a boost leak cause it to drop like that? Basically, i need to get ebc and go have someone tune my car. My tune is pretty botched right now.

Braineack 06-06-2008 12:33 PM

if i log my ebc against wastegate, it's silly......give me a sec.

not really no. you're holding boost to redline. to me it seems the turbine is choking. since we know that turbo should be good for torque to redline a case of excessive back pressure would be wasting energy pushing exhaust out of the head instead of pushing the pistons down.
