What turbos are td05?
The turbo manifold I'm looking at getting requires a td05 flange. I know of a few but ithink I'm missing some. Here's what I got. Thanks for your input

Nissan t25/28 is not a td05 flange, its a T2.

The dsm t25 that came on the second gen gts/gsx also has a Mitsu flange, with the added bonus of not needing an outlet adapter for your I/C pipes. Could be a good choice for <200whp car. Most of my friends with DSMs practically give them away ;)
Edit: Being locked into a DSM turbo isn't a bad thing. Bullseye Power makes turbine housings that are DSM flanged for garret CHRAs. There are also a couple of companies that offer up to a 20g in a TD05H wheel. (Sidenote: TD05H = turbine wheel, not flange) |
Am I the only one that thinks its stupid to build your whole setup around a manifold flange? Shouldn't you first pick a turbo that will suit your power/performance needs and THEN EVERYTHING ELSE?

I'm not against the mitsu turbo's. I'm just saying I don't think its smart to have your manifold flange type be the deciding factor about which turbo to use in your car.

I ordered a new 16G with small turbine from a local turbo shop, put it on, had to change all my charge pipe because turbo was set up way differently, it ran and idled fine, put it on the dyno, the vacuum line controlling my wastegate was pinched, 16g turbo spiked to 20lbs, cylinder 4 disintegrated. I couldn't find a long nose 1.6, so I went with a 97 1.8, and started everything over, because i couldn't find a manifold with td05 to fit my 1.8. So yes, I totally agree with not letting your manifold decide which turbo to use. Do the resesarch, then buy the parts. |

I mean if it works out for OP that's great. I just think its safer to plan out your build first, and start with the turbo that fits your needs, instead of a turbo that fits the manifold. |

I bought mine as a kit...and was "stuck" with this oddball manifold flange and a turbo that runs out of breath up top. I actually have all the parts now to switch to a more conventional T25 setup...but don't have the time or money to make it happen. The T25/T28 options are very enticing to me coming from a baby turbo. The point remains however that anyone that can afford to should pick their turbo line first...then the supporting parts. |
