What'd 'yall do about your upper radiator hose?
Just wondering. My charge pipe makes contact and slightly pinches it, but not nearly enough to significantly impede flow. I figure you track guys are running a much, much better solution because you need all the flow you can get.
I will eventually want to redo this since it's annoying and looks shitty, so what did you all do to stop this/did you do anything to stop it? |
Coolant reroute....mine currently does the same thing.

How would the coolant rerout help? It'd have to go into the upper radiator hose anyway, and mine is already trimmed down to compensate.

We mess around our charge pipe and coolant hose setup/position. If you have a dedicated enough track car the radiator isn't even in the stock location or the rest of the ducting and cooling setup is good enough to compensate for a small pinch. If your car isn't a completely prepped race car then the small pinch probably isn't enough to matter. Pictures of your setup?

Yikes that is a nasty pinch. You can forget about replacing your radiator with a thicker one any time soon too, no way it would fit. Have you tried cutting your silicone coupler shorter and shoving the pipe in further? You should have some more room by doing that.

I'll probably make a new charge pipe, a little shorter and with re-placed fittings. |
Use a tighter throttle body pipe. I used a 90deg silicone off my throttle body.

I have the same problem with my setup. I used a vibrant tight radius 90 off of the throttle body and have my IAT sensor bung welded into it. Eventually I'll just get a new bung welded on the charge pipe farther down and use a silicone 90. I think that's really the only option.

I think what I'll do is buy a 2.5" -> 2" 90* silicone reducer and make a new pipe, but this should work fine for now. |
mine rubs too, the biggest thing that worries me about it is the radiator hose heating up the intake piping, and the intake charge, but i can;t imagine it does that to much effect.

90* 2.5" silicone coupler fit just fine in mine with no pinches and I have 1.8 swap with thicker CXRacing rad which = even less room than you're dealing with. Image isn't of the best angle but you can see both pipes.

1.insert giant spring into upper radiator hose
2.win the spring with the M-Tuned reroute is just the perfect size to slide into the upper radiator hole on my koyo. put a hose clamp on the hose+spring to hold the spring in place, sandwich the upper radiator tube between the spring and radiator hose. The spring will keep your hose from pinching while allowing it to remain flexible. |
^This^ +1 I forgot about that! I can vouch for that method. We had to do that to my friends setup and it works great.
