Default Where do i start?

I just picked up a 1990 miata 1.6 with less than 70,000 miles. I want to get a turbo for it. I just dont know where to start. I want to build it up the right way. I also have a buddy begging me to let him weld my lsd instead of just buying one. What do you think?

A good place to start would be the "search" button. Thats the "nice" answer. I am sure you will get the "not so nice answer" from someone else...

Start here:
https://www.miataturbo.net/forum/showthread.php?t=4288

Then buy Maximum Boost:
http://www.bellengineering.net/Pages...cts_books.html

THEN NEVER AGAIN EVER-EVER-EVER-EVER-EVER LISTEN TO ANYTHING YOUR FRIENDS TELL YOU ABOUT WHAT YOU SHOULD DO TO YOUR CAR!!! COME HERE AND ASK US FIRST!!!

Your buddy is probably some drift-dork, right. Tell him to go **** up somebody elses car.

Now, answer these questions for us:
What do you want to do with this car?
How much money do you have?
How much power are you looking for?
How much skillz do you have? Garage at your disposal? Tools?
What is your previous experience with turbocharging (if any)?
Have you driven a boosted Miata?

There are 2 main companies that make "kits".
Check out their websites:
www.bellengineering.net
www.flyinmiata.net

Fill out your profile... specifially where do you live?

there seems to be something wrong here, besides the whole quote, but why would you weld an LSD? It's already an LSD.

I think what he meant was that a friend wants to weld his Open Diff. Which, I mean to be honest isn't that bad on a miata. Considering I know someone who is going to weld the open diff in his MR-2 Turbo Swap. o_O did I mention he's also switching it to run on E85?

And do not buy any of the crappy kits from ebay. They are all crap and the adds are full of lies.

Another good place to start is a Miata club. Check out some other turboed miatas and see what kind of cost level, hassle level VS fun level the other guys have. Then see where you want to take your car.
