Where the Hell can I find these freaking fittings!? (1/8" BSPT)

Been searching around for awhile to find replacement hose barb fittings for my APEXi Boost Solenoid as one was sheared off in an accident. Thought I had found out that they were 1/8" NPT. Everything thread in smoothly until about 4 revolutions, then it got QUITE difficult to turn. After doing some searching I found out that the required fitting is actually a 1/8" BSPT. EFF! Been searching for hours with no luck. Found one place in the UK that wouldn't ship to the US... Checked McMaster as well with no luck. Basically I am looking for a (2) hose barb fittings with 1/8" BSPT male and 3/16" hose barb. Attachment 198661

If it threads in 4 rotations why not JB weld and thread until it jams up.

I'm NOT sure:giggle:
I did get fittings that look exactly like that there though

I hate that there are two pipe threads,If you can take it a part and tap it to NPT...you will make it easier to get fittings for...

your propably going to have to get a different size barb. I looked as well and it seems that the size your talking about just isn't made. I found some with 5/32 barbed and 1/4 barbed, but nothing in between. Its kinda wierd.

This is UBER close... I will check and see if I can get away with fitting a 1/4" ID hose on a similar fitting. :crosses fingers:

Mitchell, no JB Weld for this reason...Trying to avoid damaging the solenoid or modifying it as I plan to get rid of it once it is fixed... So yes, an APEXi AVC-R will be up in the FS section sometime soonish.

18psi, they were 1/8" NPT at Ace. That's where I got the ones that only thread in 4 rotations.

Brain, you are correct sir...

LOL no fucking way. You might be able to get it at a local mom & pop hardware store, but you'll have to give pops some hand relief to convince him to special order it, perhaps from jolly old England or wherever they use British pipe thread.

Here's a mcmaster part that may help:
5832T111
3/4" long pipe nipple with 1/8 BPST on one end and NPT on the other. To that you could attach a common 1/8 female NPT barb adapter. Assuming the additional length isn't a problem for your application.

Dude if you get really desperate I'll try the local hydraulic fittings place and see if they can get one, then ship it over to you. PM me the EXACT fitting you need and I'll give them a call.

edit: just re read the original post and I see you have already posted what you are after. Its past 9 in the evening now but ill try calling them in the morning if you like just to see if they have it and how much. Let me know if I should bother.

Appreciate it man... If all else fails here in the States I will let you know something for sure.

dustinb 04-07-2010 04:24 PM

Are you 100% sure it's BSPT? Being Japanese it's more likely a metric fitting.

thagr81 us 04-07-2010 04:26 PM

Tried metric fittings with the thread finder thing. None worked... Plus it is tapered.

localtech 04-07-2010 04:44 PM

sell it like it is. You may be better off just letting the next person deal with it. With fittings being 2-5 bucks here in the States I am sure the fittings from UK will be a lot more shipped.

It's cool that you are going to this extent to sell a good part though.

thagr81 us 04-07-2010 04:53 PM

Yeah... I thought about selling it like it is. Also, I am fabricating a new mounting bracket for it as well as the other got destroyed in my accident. Just trying to make sure the buyer doesn't have to go through all of these hoops to have a running unit.
