will the greddy egt probe fit in the begi egr port?
I'd rather plug the egt probe in there if it fits.
thanks |
The EGR port is huge. You'll have to make an adapter to fit the 1/8 NPT EGT probe in there.

I guess I'll just weld it into the downpipe.

I would take the EGR tube. Cut the fitting off the end that goes into the manifold. Then weld a 1/8" NPT bung to that.

Cast iron?
The fitting i'm talking about is connected to your stock EGR tube. Pretty sure it's either stainless or mild steel. |

Cut the tube and pull it out of the fitting. Then weld a bunch onto it or maybe even tap the fitting itself depending on how large it is for the sending unit. |
Actually i just pulled out my Begi mani. The fitting that is there for the EGR tube to connect two it has two parts. The outer threaded sleeve that they weld on and the internal cone that has a very small opening. The hole itself that allows exhaust gas into the egr port is small enough that you could easily drill it to the appropriate size and tap it for the EGT probe. To be able to tighten the probe very well you would most likely want to cut off the outer threaded ring though. Easy enough with a grinder or sawzall or both.

your manifold shouldn't have an egr port

..just drill a hole in the bottom of the manifold and tap it. This has worked perfectly for me. Pretty sure it's how BEGI does it.
Edit: Stephanie sent me this photo when she asked where I wanted my EGT hole drilled as a recommended location. Attachment 215340 |

drill a hole in the plug......this isn't rocket science.
