IGN-4 coil packs
We've got in a shipment of this 4 tower coil pack relative of the IGN-1.

The IGN-4 coil pack does not have a built in ignitor. You could drive it with BIP373s, a stock Miata ignitor (that probably wouldn't have enough current capacity to work well, though) or a DSM ignition module (which ought to be hot enough to keep up). When you pair it with a good module, it's just as hot as an IGN-1A, and like the IGN-1A, it uses HEI type plug wires. It's only a few dollars more than an IGN-1A, but you only need one of these coils for a Miata.

You'd need a DSM ignition module, but once you have that, yes.
I'm firing a DSM coil pack with (2) J701 mitsubishi ignitors (stock escort gt & protégé lx). They seem to be happily supporting ~3.8ms dwell. Might be another cheap/free option for a durable ignitor. I've only heard good things about these, they are apparently OE ignitors on many Japanese built single-coil vehicles.
