Attachment 17233 Attachment 17234 97M 1.8 with motor from a 95. 12.5 ish psi with a GT2554. 2.5 exhaust into an enthuza metal core cat and enthuza 2.5" turbo exhaust. Mspnp with low imp RC550 inj The red lines were my baseline run. We also tried Brisk Racing Silver plugs which picked up 5hp. We were starting the runs around 2K, but I guess he was hitting "record" later. I'm very happy and it was a great experience. |

My spool is kinda lame for a 2554. I'm running an MBC right now. |
That curve looks just about right for a Dynojet with a GT25r at that boost and setup... and a great tune. You've got a bit more boost in that little guy, but the upgrade to a GT2560 would let you make the same power and a bit more torque at a pinch less boost and if you go with EBC, even probably spool a bit better.
|
I wouldn't be complaining about those numbers at 12psi with that sized turbo.
|
Spool seems a little slow, what are you using for boost control?
|
stock engine? how many miles?
|
good numbers!
|
Wait... you really picked up 5hp out of your spark plugs?
That seems crazy! Is anyone else running these plugs? |
Same gasp used on both plugs?
|
looks slow.
|
great powerband man.
I have a hard time believing the plugs claim. 1st I've never even heard of those, and 2nd I've never heard of gaining 5hp unless your original ones were fouled to shit |

I let my car cool off once after a few pulls...i picked up 4hp. true story. |
Thanks for the responses.
Brain - Actually, I'm very happy with the results. I just heard that particular dyno read low etc. It's all relative. The dyno operator was great to work with. He had dealt with MS on other cars (non Miata) and hated it. After working with mine and TunerStudio, he was impressed. Sav - I'm using the NSX MBC http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NXS-M...Q5fAccessories My wastegate actuator used to zip up to 8psi and stay there. Now, without the MBC, it will go up to 8psi. Then above 5K, will creep to 10psi. With the MBC hooked up, I can alleviate this a bit. It wont really creep per se. I can adjust to hit 12 psi without it going to 10 and creeping to 12 above 5K, but the spool isn't as good as I remember. Not sure if the diaphragm in the supplied actuator from FM wears out over time. NA8psi - Stock Motor around 90,000 Miles About the plugs... It was something we just tried. My old plugs were bkr-6e11's. We worked with those for awhile. Installed the new plugs at the same gap. (.30 I believe). The next run gained 1hp, probably from sitting, although it was like 95 degrees in the shop. On that run, everything had leaned out. We got the a/f ratio back to where we had previous to installing the new plugs and gained another 5hp. Now, this might have happened with fresh bkr-7e's. It was just an observation. |

You need a 3 inch exhaust. It will help your spool big time. Also would you care to post your spark map?

Hi everyone!
Here are 2 spark maps. The first, "Dyno Final", is what we ended up with and produced the graphs shown. The other, "Post Dyno", is just my return to the numbers I had from 2300-3400 rpm and 128-183 map cells. We originally lowered those cells and did a run. He liked where I had them before, but we never really revisited it. Pulls great down there. The second map is where I've been since. Joe |

Does the DP need to be 3" to get the benefit or will a 3" DP-back be enough?
