99 T28 Churbo 16psi Dyno Run

6 Attachment(s)
I finally got my car tuned by Stephanie at BEGi after my engine rebuild a year and a half ago. I am running the T28 Churbo at 16psi. Engine got Supertech 84mm pistons, H Tuned rods, BE billet oil pump, LS9 Coils, Artech 3" downpipe and Enthuza 3" full exhaust. Here's my dyno plot.

Thanks. My car was down for about a year. Car is now so fun to drive!

My car has had a leaky water pump since last year this time. It's time to get her back on the road.

Did you pay extra to have Stephanie stand behind the rear bumper to check for detonation?

18psi 03-19-2015 09:05 AM

Good job op, solid numbers out of a churbo.

She had somebody look in the rear for detonation.

Water pump is such an easy fix after I've been thru. Yes it's time to get your car back on the road.

Thanks V!

I'm sure that's fun to drive. Looks like you have a little boost-creep. Are you running off WG?
If so, using boost control should help with spool and max torque at lower rpms.

Stephanie did mention about boost creep. I am running internal WG with MBC. I may replace my MBC with something better or run EBC.

What gear was the dyno run done in? Since you have the 6 speed 5th is your 1:1 gear so that is what I would have expected you to use on the dyno. It looked like 4th perhaps even 3rd was used... your spool up doesn't look that bad, but it would have looked considerably better in 5th.

Very impressive!

Thanks! That dyno run was on 3rd gear during initial pulls. Tuning was done on 4th gear.

So I have this GT2860RS turbo with 0.80 turbine sitting in my garage. Wondering is it worth swapping out with my Chinese 2871. I have a log manifold with a 3" Artech downpipe and a bottom end built 1.9L motor.

Any input would be appreciated. I've searched and I don't think anybody is running with this setup.

18psi 12-02-2016 12:46 PM

Chinese 2871 for an authentic garrett gt2860rs?
yes, though ideally you'd want the .64 turbine

Okay, thanks, sounds good. Yeah rather have a .64 turbine, but the 0.80 turbine is what I have.
