Dyno Time and $$

How much do you pay for dyno time and how many pulls ? Tunning b/t pulls ?

-Local shop here is qoutin 100/hr with tuning allowed or 80 / 3pulls /1hr w/o tuning (this is for a dynojet).

Ben 10-27-2007 09:12 PM

$100/hr sounds good--not a steal, but not a rip either. Make sure you get telemety and an operator for that price.

I think I paid $125/hr to tune on a steady state dyno, all inclusive.

My local mustang dyno charges 100$ an hour if you get 3-4 people on a sat. You could get a group rate of like 70$ etc. If i where you i would see about getting in on the Virginia dyno braineack is putting together.

$150/hr for rental, $150/hr for us to tune. $50 for 3 pulls, $75 for 3 pulls with WB.

Ben 10-29-2007 07:47 PM

So you get $300/hr to tune a car?

No....$150/hr for us to tune or $150/hr to use the dyno for you to tune.

Ben 10-30-2007 03:55 PM

Gotchya, you meant $150/hour which includes a tuner if needed.

drewbroo 10-30-2007 06:40 PM

100 an hour and they tune it for me.

Savington 11-17-2007 06:04 AM

$100 an hour, $150 if you need a tuner. I don't know if the $100 assumes an operator; I sure as hell wouldn't let some Joe Schmoe off the street jump on my dyno and try to operate it himself.

How much is DIY charging for tuning MSPNP'd Miatas?

TURNS101 11-20-2007 08:35 PM

100 an hour for my guy also

Siegel Racing 11-21-2007 09:46 AM

We're $159.99/hour for dyno usage with or without a tuner ;)

Poor locals, you should at least make a cheaper no-tuner provided option.

Typical price in Chicago land is 100/hr. 75 for a few pulls. Dyno days get down to like 40 bucks for a couple pulls.

Full day rental prices can drop the hourly rate down to 70 or so. (split amongst a few people and its :) )

01TurboMiata 11-25-2007 02:42 PM

good prices, i wish there was someone near Panama City.

myhotrs4 02-04-2008 09:49 AM

I paid $125 for a 3 pull base line and 3 pulls after I put on the kit. Pretty Good deal

myhotrs4 02-04-2008 09:50 AM

make sure where ever you dyno your car that they have a wide band o2

Local rates for a DynoDynamics load cell dyno

Baseline Dyno Test (3 runs with A/F logging): $85
Dyno Rental: $100 an hour
Dyno Tuning: $150 an hour by our expert tuners

Negotiable rates for full days and car club dyno days. They also have fixed prices for tunes on select engine management systems. Usually $300 to $650 depending on the system, additional maps (race gas, nitrous, e-85 whatever) about $100 each. Nothing Miata specific, they are mainly and Evo, STI, Mustang shop.

150/hr is overpriced for tuning on a dynojet. at most you'd want to set up your autotune for fuel and do three baseline runs and let the car tune itself. saves you $50 and with good autotune settings, nets you a perfect fuel curve.

125-150 / hr for tuning servies on a steady state dyno is pretty much the going rate around here.

There is a place local to me that wants $100/hr for me to tune on a AWD Mustang Dyno

Its like...160 or so if they tune it and he doesn't know the software...so it'd be me, with a friend of mine helping me out. That sound fair?

samnavy 02-04-2008 10:50 AM

There are a lot of NC guys on this forum. Put out the word, maybe you can get a couple dudes to go in with you... makes for a great day! I'd also make sure the shop has exprerience with eXede... or have them go over the software before you put the car on the dyno.

The clock starts when the straps go on. Any tinkering after that and you're paying for it.

Where exactly are you in NC?
