Finally ran some decent times today.
No EMS, running on Azenis, and 10psi with a T3/T4E
60' - 2.078 1/8mi - 8.627@83.62mph 1/4mi - 13.279@106.82mph There arent any other local turbo miatas, so I really have no one to compare times with. Does this seem like a decent time for 10psi? |
I think any miata running low 13s is impressive.

Hopefully I can make some improvement next time, I have a set of shaved Toyo RA1s that i've been wanting to try at the track. Have any of you ever run a 2 step or something for launch control?

dude thats not bad at all, i ran a 14 at 12-13psi and the same tires. What is your suspension mods, rear camber, and launch rpm like? I am asking because while I ran a 14, my trap speed was 102mph and looking at your time that should put me at a 13.5 or so with better driving.
btw, i think i should mention that I had reaction times of about a second because it was my first time and due to a friends faulty explanation of how bracket racing works I focused on my launch instead of taking off immediately. I was under the impression that the winner was the person who had an ET closest to their dial in without busting and ended up loosing by .2 seconds to a bmw who was quite a bit slower than me just because I left late. Found out later its the person crossing the line first who wins. Dont think that it played into my ET though because i think the timer begins when my front wheels lift off of the weights. |
not bad, I think you are probably giving up power somewhere though. a standalone is in order.

Picking up 23mph between the 1/8 and 1/4, not bad. The traps are there for 12s if you can get your 60' time down to 1.7-1.8.
What is the trim of your turbo and what are you doing for fuel? |

my 60ft's range from 3.4 to 2.7..... the car just bogs, or roasts the tires....

cheap 205's, on 17" wheels. My trap times are all between 107 and 108

I think the Azenis are awful for drag racing. I tried it a couple of years ago and had problems, it was either spin or hop no in between. my best 60 was 2.2. my best time was a 13.9 at 99mph, that was a 1.6L with a FMII at 12psi. I think the sidewall on the Azenis is too stiff.

Of course its too stiff, its practically an autoX tire. I consistantly run 2.0 60fts on them though, I think if I learned to slip the clutch a little more I could get it down to 1.9 or maby even 1.8 if I really hooked up and all the planets alligned just right. On the run I ended up breaking my diff on, it finally hooked up like I had allways wished it would.. Im going to try lower pressures next time, all the runs I have ever made on the Azenis were at 32 or 34psi. Going to try 26 or 28 next time. Next year I want to get some drag radials though, then i'll really start breaking shit...

You're obviously managing to do better with them than I could. Heck you did better with them than I did on my kumho's. I only made 2 passes , probaly could have mustered a 2.0 with a few more attempts but shoulda woulda coulda never accomplished anything. I tried lowering the pressures on the falkens and if I remember right it made it worse. just watch out for wheel hop.

Thanks man, this may sound stupid and I may be completely wrong, but I think the 60ft times may also have something to do with the turbo size (in addition to the azenis). I went with the T3/T04E 50t .48/.60 trying to have a turbo that was alittle laggy, yet not so bad that I was a dyno queen.. Of course I picked the size before I learned anything about compressor maps so it was just a guess pretty much lol, but I think my 60ft times have alot to do with the fact that it takes quite a few feet off the line before I hit boost, so by the time I recover traction from the initial launch, it starts hitting full boost. Please someone tell me if this is a stupid theory, because I may very well be just imagining this lol.

Haha no, I ran a 13.3 that run, the 350 ran a 15.7. If you look closely you see that I get ahead of him then manage to stay out of the cameras view the whole race(blocked by the big ass truck), hence the shot of me first on the return road. Ill have to post up the second cam angle.

WOW...thats pretty damn fast...u can kick a lot of street legal cars ass on the street...i have a friend with a FMII miata running 15psi of boost and just barely making high 13s... best time was 13.8

nice times.... i ran a 9.0 on the 1/8th with my secondary fuel line leaking and i was running lean and fuel cutting on 9 PSI, i got it fix and i hope to go back and run a low 8 =]
